1. Present Tense: Regular -ER, -IR, -RE Verbs | 现在时:规则动词变位
The present tense describes what is happening now, habitual actions or general truths. The vast majority of French verbs fall into three regular groups, and once you master their endings, you can conjugate hundreds of verbs. For -ER verbs like parler, remove -er and add -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent. For -IR verbs like finir, remove -ir and add -is, -is, -it, -issons, -issez, -issent. For -RE verbs like vendre, remove -re and add -s, -s, -, -ons, -ez, -ent.
现在时用来描述正在发生的事情、习惯性动作或普遍真理。绝大多数法语动词属于三大规则组,掌握其词尾后,你就能变位数百个动词。以 parler 为代表的 -ER 动词,去掉 -er 后加上 -e、-es、-e、-ons、-ez、-ent。以 finir 为代表的 -IR 动词,去掉 -ir 后加上 -is、-is、-it、-issons、-issez、-issent。以 vendre 为代表的 -RE 动词,去掉 -re 后加上 -s、-s、-、-ons、-ez、-ent。
| Subject | parler (to speak) | finir (to finish) | vendre (to sell) |
|---|---|---|---|
| je | parle | finis | vends |
| tu | parles | finis | vends |
| il/elle/on | parle | finit | vend |
| nous | parlons | finissons | vendons |
| vous | parlez | finissez | vendez |
| ils/elles | parlent | finissent | vendent |
Always pay attention to pronunciation: the -e, -es and -ent endings are silent, while the -ons and -ez endings are fully pronounced. Many spelling-change -ER verbs like manger (nous mangeons) and commencer (nous commençons) follow the same basic pattern with small adjustments to preserve sound.
留意发音:-e、-es 和 -ent 词尾不发音,而 -ons、-ez 需要完整读出。很多拼写变化的 -ER 动词,如 manger(nous mangeons)和 commencer(nous commençons),也基本遵循这一模式,只是为保留读音做了微调。
2. Key Irregular Verbs: être, avoir, aller, faire | 关键不规则动词
These four verbs are the backbone of French communication. They are not only used as main verbs but also as auxiliaries and in countless idiomatic expressions. You must know them by heart in the present tense: être (to be) – je suis, tu es, il/elle/on est, nous sommes, vous êtes, ils/elles sont. Avoir (to have) – j’ai, tu as, il/elle/on a, nous avons, vous avez, ils/elles ont.
Combining aller with an infinitive gives the near future: je vais manger (I am going to eat). Faire is used for weather, activities and causative constructions: Il fait beau (The weather is nice), je fais du sport (I do sport).
Aller(去)— je vais, tu vas, il/elle/on va, nous allons, vous allez, ils/elles vont。Faire(做)— je fais, tu fais, il/elle/on fait, nous faisons, vous faites, ils/elles font。aller 与动词原形连用构成最近将来时:je vais manger(我要去吃饭)。faire 用于天气、活动和使动结构:Il fait beau(天气好),je fais du sport(我做运动)。
3. The Perfect Tense: Passé Composé with Avoir and Être | 复合过去时:avoir 与 être 的用法
The passé composé expresses completed actions in the past. It is formed with the present tense of avoir or être + the past participle. Most verbs use avoir: j’ai mangé (I ate), tu as fini (you finished). However, a group of ‘Dr & Mrs Vandertramp’ verbs (coming, going, staying, being born, dying, etc.) use être, and the past participle must agree with the subject in gender and number: elle est allée (she went), ils sont venus (they came).
复合过去时表示过去的已完成动作,由 avoir 或 être 的现在时加上过去分词构成。大多数动词用 avoir:j’ai mangé(我吃了),tu as fini(你完成了)。但有一组“Dr & Mrs Vandertramp”动词(表示来、去、停留、出生、死亡等)使用 être,且过去分词须与主语保持性数一致:elle est allée(她去了),ils sont venus(他们来了)。
Reflexive verbs always take être in the passé composé: je me suis levé(e) (I got up). The past participle of -ER verbs ends in -é, -IR verbs in -i, -RE verbs in -u, but many irregular past participles must be memorised: avoir → eu, être → été, faire → fait, prendre → pris, voir → vu, écrire → écrit.
反身动词在复合过去时中永远使用 être:je me suis levé(e)(我起床了)。-ER 动词的过去分词以 -é 结尾,-IR 以 -i 结尾,-RE 以 -u 结尾,但大量不规则过去分词需要死记:avoir → eu,être → été,faire → fait,prendre → pris,voir → vu,écrire → écrit。
4. The Imperfect Tense: L’imparfait | 未完成过去时
The imperfect is used for descriptions, habitual actions in the past and ongoing situations. It is formed by taking the nous form of the present tense, removing -ons and adding the endings: -ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient. The only verb with an irregular stem is être, whose stem is ét-: j’étais, tu étais, il était…
未完成过去时用于描写、过去的习惯动作以及持续的状态。构成方法是,先取动词现在时 nous 的变位,去掉 -ons 后加上词尾:-ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient。唯一词干不规则的动词是 être,其词干为 ét-:j’étais, tu étais, il était……
A classic exam technique is to distinguish the imperfect from the passé composé: if you are setting the scene or describing a repeated past action, use the imperfect; if you are narrating a single completed event that moves the story forward, use the passé composé. For example, Il pleuvait quand je suis arrivé (It was raining when I arrived).
经典的考试技巧是区分未完成过去时和复合过去时:若你在描写背景或过去的重复动作,用未完成过去时;若你在讲述一个推动情节发展的单一完成事件,则用复合过去时。例如:Il pleuvait quand je suis arrivé(我到的时候正在下雨)。
5. Future Tenses: Near Future and Simple Future | 将来时:最近将来时与简单将来时
The near future (futur proche) is the easiest way to talk about planned events: conjugate aller in the present + infinitive. Nous allons visiter Paris (We are going to visit Paris). The simple future (futur simple) is a one-word tense used for more distant or formal future events. Most verbs use the infinitive as the stem and add the endings: -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont. For -RE verbs, drop the final e: je vendrai.
最近将来时(futur proche)是表达计划中事件的最简单方式:aller 的现在时 + 动词原形。Nous allons visiter Paris(我们将要参观巴黎)。简单将来时(futur simple)是一个单词式的时态,用于较远或正式的将来事件。大多数动词以原形为词干,加上词尾 -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont。-RE 动词须去掉词尾的 e:je vendrai。
Common irregular stems include: être → ser- (je serai), avoir → aur- (tu auras), aller → ir- (il ira), faire → fer- (nous ferons), venir → viendr- (vous viendrez), voir → verr- (ils verront). The conditional mood (je voudrais) uses exactly the same stems with imperfect endings, making it a useful pattern to recognise.
常见的不规则词干有:être → ser-(je serai),avoir → aur-(tu auras),aller → ir-(il ira),faire → fer-(nous ferons),venir → viendr-(vous viendrez),voir → verr-(ils verront)。条件式(如 je voudrais)使用完全相同的词干,搭配未完成过去时词尾,这一规律十分有用,值得掌握。
6. Adjectives: Agreement and Position | 形容词:性数配合与位置
In French, adjectives must agree in gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural) with the noun they describe. The feminine is usually formed by adding -e to the masculine: grand → grande. If the masculine already ends in -e, the form stays the same: jeune → jeune. Common irregular feminines include blanc → blanche, heureux → heureuse, sportif → sportive, long → longue. Plurals generally add -s, or -x for words ending in -eau (beau → beaux).
法语形容词必须与所修饰的名词保持性(阳/阴)和数(单/复)的一致。阴性形式通常在阳性后加 -e:grand → grande。如果阳性本身以 -e 结尾,则形式不变:jeune → jeune。常见不规则阴性变化有 blanc → blanche、heureux → heureuse、sportif → sportive、long → longue。复数通常加 -s,以 -eau 结尾的词加 -x(beau → beaux)。
Most adjectives come after the noun, but a small group (BAGS: Beauty, Age, Goodness, Size) precede it: une belle maison (a beautiful house), un vieil ami (an old friend), une bonne idée (a good idea), une grande ville (a big city). Some adjectives change meaning depending on their position: un homme grand (a tall man) vs un grand homme (a great man).
大多数形容词置于名词之后,但有一小类(BAGS:美、龄、善、尺)位于名词之前:une belle maison(一幢漂亮的房子),un vieil ami(一位老朋友),une bonne idée(一个好主意),une grande ville(一个大城市)。有些形容词根据位置不同会改变意思:un homme grand(高个子男人)与 un grand homme(伟人)。
7. Negation: ne…pas and Other Negative Structures | 否定结构
The basic negation wraps the conjugated verb with ne … pas: Je ne parle pas anglais (I don’t speak English). In compound tenses, ne … pas surrounds the auxiliary verb: Je n’ai pas fini (I haven’t finished). The ne contracts to n’ before a vowel or silent h. In spoken French, the ne is often dropped, but you should always use it in written exams.
基本否定结构用 ne … pas 包裹变位动词:Je ne parle pas anglais(我不说英语)。在复合时态中,ne … pas 夹在助动词两侧:Je n’ai pas fini(我没完成)。ne 在元音或哑音 h 前缩合为 n’。口语中常省略 ne,但考试写作中必须写出。
Many other negative expressions follow the same pattern: ne … jamais (never), ne … plus (no longer), ne … rien (nothing), ne … personne (nobody), ne … que (only). With rien and personne, the second part can move: Je n’ai rien vu (I saw nothing), but Je n’ai vu personne (I saw nobody). The phrase ne … aucun(e) + noun means ‘not a single’ and requires agreement: Je n’ai aucune idée.
许多其他否定表达遵循相同规则:ne … jamais(从不),ne … plus(不再),ne … rien(没有任何东西),ne … personne(没有人),ne … que(仅仅)。rien 和 personne 的位置会发生变化:Je n’ai rien vu(我什么都没看见),而 Je n’ai vu personne(我没看见任何人)。ne … aucun(e) + 名词 表示“一个都没有”,需要性数配合:Je n’ai aucune idée。
8. Forming Questions: Interrogatives | 疑问句的构成
There are three main ways to ask a question in French. The simplest is raising your intonation: Tu viens ? (You’re coming?). The most common and neutral form is using est-ce que: Est-ce que tu viens ? The formal written style is inversion: Viens-tu ? With a noun subject, you still invert the pronoun: Paul, vient-il ?
法语提问有三种主要方式。最简单的是提升语调:Tu viens ?(你来吗?)。最常见且中性的形式是使用 est-ce que:Est-ce que tu viens ?。正式书面语则用主谓倒装:Viens-tu ?。如果主语是名词,需要用代词重复倒装:Paul, vient-il ?
Question words are placed at the beginning or, in informal speech, at the end: Où habites-tu ? / Tu habites où ? (Where do you live?). Key interrogatives include: qui (who), qu’est-ce que (what), quand (when), comment (how), pourquoi (why), combien (de) (how much/many). With inversion, note the inserted -t- in Où habite-t-il ? to ease pronunciation.
疑问词通常放在句首,口语中也可放在句末:Où habites-tu ? / Tu habites où ?(你住在哪里?)。关键疑问词包括:qui(谁),qu’est-ce que(什么),quand(什么时候),comment(怎样),pourquoi(为什么),combien (de)(多少)。倒装时,注意 Où habite-t-il ? 中为方便发音而插入的 -t-。
9. Object Pronouns: Direct, Indirect, Y and En | 宾语代词:直接、间接、y 和 en
Direct object pronouns replace the noun that directly receives the action: me, te, le/la, nous, vous, les. They go before the conjugated verb: Je le vois (I see him/it). In the passé composé, they precede the auxiliary and the past participle agrees with a preceding direct object: Je les ai vues (I saw them, feminine).
直接宾语代词替代直接承受动作的名词:me, te, le/la, nous, vous, les。它们置于变位动词之前:Je le vois(我看见他/它)。在复合过去时中,代词放在助动词前,过去分词须与前置的直接宾语保持性数一致:Je les ai vues(我看见她们了)。
Indirect object pronouns replace people preceded by à: me, te, lui, nous, vous, leur. Je lui parle (I speak to him/her). The pronouns y (replaces à + place or thing) and en (replaces de + noun) also come before the verb: J’y vais (I’m going there), J’en ai trois The order with two pronouns is fixed: me/te/se/nous/vous → le/la/les → lui/leur → y → en.
间接宾语代词替代由 à 引导的指人名词:me, te, lui, nous, vous, leur。Je lui parle(我对他/她说话)。代词 y(替代 à + 地点或事物)和 en(替代 de + 名词)同样置于动词前:J’y vais(我去那里),J’en ai trois(我有三个)。两个代词连用时有固定顺序:me/te/se/nous/vous → le/la/les → lui/leur → y → en。
10. Contracted Articles: à and de with Definite Articles | 缩合冠词:à/de 与定冠词
The prepositions à and de contract with the definite articles le and les to form a single word. à + le = au (au cinéma), à + les = aux (aux États-Unis). de + le = du (du pain), de + les = des (des amis). There is no contraction with la or l’: à la gare, de l’eau. These contractions are obligatory and forgetting them is a common error.
介词 à 和 de 与定冠词 le 和 les 必须缩合成一个单词。à + le = au(au cinéma 在电影院),à + les = aux(aux États-Unis 在美国)。de + le = du(du pain 一些面包),de + les = des(des amis 一些朋友)。与 la 和 l’ 不缩合:à la gare, de l’eau。这些缩合是强制性的,忘记缩合是常见错误。
The partitive article (du, de la, de l’, des) is used with non-count nouns and translates as ‘some’ or ‘any’: Je mange du fromage (I eat some cheese). In negative sentences, the partitive changes to de or d’: Je ne mange pas de fromage. This rule also applies after expressions of quantity: beaucoup de, un peu de, assez de.
部分冠词(du, de la, de l’, des)用于不可数名词,表示“一些”:Je mange du fromage(我吃些奶酪)。在否定句中,部分冠词变为 de 或 d’:Je ne mange pas de fromage。这一规则同样适用于数量短语后:beaucoup de(很多),un peu de(一点),assez de(足够的)。
11. Comparatives and Superlatives | 比较级与最高级
To compare adjectives, use plus … que (more … than), moins … que (less … than) and aussi … que (as … as). The adjective must still agree with the subject: Elle est plus grande que toi (She is taller than you). The irregular comparative forms are meilleur(e)(s) (better) for the adjective bon, and pire (worse) for mauvais, though plus mauvais is also acceptable.
比较形容词时,使用 plus … que(比…更…),moins … que(不如…)和 aussi … que(和…一样…)。形容词必须与主语保持性数一致:Elle est plus grande que toi(她比你高)。不规则的比较级形式有:形容词 bon 变为 meilleur(e)(s)(更好的),mauvais 变为 pire(更糟的),不过 plus mauvais 也可使用。
For comparing nouns, use plus de … que, moins de … que, autant de … que: Il a plus d’argent que son frère (He has more money than his brother). Comparing verbs requires plus que, moins que, autant que: Je travaille plus que toi.
比较名词时,使用 plus de … que,moins de … que,autant de … que:Il a plus d’argent que son frère(他比弟弟有钱)。比较动词用 plus que,moins que,autant que:Je travaille plus que toi(我比你工作得多)。
The superlative puts le/la/les plus/moins before the adjective: la ville la plus intéressante (the most interesting city). If the adjective normally goes before the noun, the superlative does too: le meilleur film (the best film). Remember to include the definite article before plus/moins even if it already appears elsewhere.
最高级将 le/la/les plus/moins 置于形容词前:la ville la plus intéressante(最有趣的城市)。如果形容词通常位于名词前,最高级也前置:le meilleur film(最好的电影)。即使定冠词已在别处出现,plus/moins 前仍需重复冠词。
12. Essential Conjunctions and Linking Words | 核心连接词
Using a range of connectives significantly improves the coherence of your French writing and speaking. To add information, use et (and), de plus (moreover), en outre (furthermore). To contrast, rely on mais (but), pourtant (however), cependant (nevertheless), alors que (whereas). To show cause and consequence, try parce que (because), car (for), donc (so), c’est pourquoi (that is why), par conséquent (consequently).
使用多样的连接词能显著提升法语写作和口语的连贯性。表示补充可用 et、de plus(此外)、en outre(而且)。表示对比用 mais(但是)、pourtant(然而)、cependant(尽管如此)、alors que(然而)。表示因果可用 parce que、car(因为)、donc(所以)、c’est pourquoi(这就是为什么)、par conséquent(因此)。
To sequence events, use d’abord (first),
