Learning and inquiry skills cover how students think about their own thinking. This includes metacognition, self-regulation, planning, monitoring and evaluating their work. Habits such as retrieval practice, spaced review and regular low-stakes quizzing make learning durable rather than temporary. The goal is a student who can ask a good question, locate evidence, test an idea and explain a conclusion clearly.
