这本速查手册汇集了英语学科中像公式一样重要的关键规则与概念,涵盖语法结构、写作框架和文学手法,帮助每一位 Year 9 CCEA 学子提升阅读、写作与分析能力。
1. The Subject–Verb Agreement Rule | 主谓一致规则
A singular subject takes a singular verb (with 's' in present simple); a plural subject takes a plural verb (without 's'). In complex sentences, find the real subject by removing prepositional phrases.
单数主语搭配单数动词(一般现在时常加 s),复数主语搭配复数动词(不加 s)。在复杂句中,去掉介词短语就能找到真正的主语。
He runs → They run
She plays → The students play
Watch out for collective nouns and phrases like 'as well as', 'together with', which do not change the number of the subject.
注意集合名词以及 'as well as'、'together with' 等短语不会改变主语的数量,谓语仍应与原主语一致。
2. Sentence Types 'Formula' | 句型公式
r, and, nor, but, or, yet, so). A complex sentence = one independent clause + one or more dependent clauses (subordinating conjunctions: because, although, when, if, etc.).
简单句 = 一个独立分句(主语+谓语动词)。并列句 = 两个独立分句用并列连词连接(FANBOYS: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so)。复合句 = 一个独立分句 + 一个或多个从属分句(从属连词:because, although, when, if 等)。
Simple: The sun set.
Compound: The sun set, and the sky darkened.
Complex: Although the sun set, the heat remained.
3. Punctuation Formulas: Commas, Semicolons & Colons | 标点公式:逗号、分号与冒号
Comma + coordinating conjunction links two complete thoughts. Semicolon joins two closely related independent clauses without a conjunction. Colon introduces a list, an explanation or a quotation after a complete sentence.
逗号 + 并列连词连接两个完整句。分号直接连接两个紧密相关的独立分句,不加连词。冒号用于在完整句子后引出列表、解释或引语。
She wanted to go, but she was too tired. (comma + but)
The rain stopped; we went outside. (semicolon)
He had one goal: to win. (colon for explanation)
4. Tense Timeline 'Equations' | 时态时间轴公式
Present Simple: subject + base verb (+ s/es for third person). Used for facts, habits, timetables. Present Continuous: subject + am/is/are + V-ing. Used for actions happening now or temporary situations. Past Simple: subject + past form; used for completed past actions. Present Perfect: subject + have/has + past participle; links past to present.
一般现在时:主语 + 动词原形(第三人称单数加 s/es),用于事实、习惯、时间表。现在进行时:主语 + am/is/are + 动词 -ing,用于此刻正在进行的动作或暂时情况。一般过去时:主语 + 过去式,用于过去完成的动作。现在完成时:主语 + have/has + 过去分词,连接过去与现在。
Future can be expressed with 'will + base form', 'be going to + base form', or present continuous for arrangements.
将来时可用 'will + 动词原形'、'be going to + 动词原形' 或现在进行时表示安排好的计划。
5. PEE Paragraph Formula | PEE 段落公式
For analytical writing, use the Point – Evidence – Explanation structure. Point: state the argument clearly. Evidence: embed a short quotation or example. Explanation: analyse how the evidence supports the point, using phrases like 'This suggests...', 'The writer uses... to show...'.
分析写作时使用观点–证据–解释结构。观点:清晰陈述论点。证据:嵌入简短引用或例子。解释:分析证据如何支持观点,使用 'This suggests...'、'The writer uses... to show...' 等句式。

8. Direct and Indirect Speech Conversion | 直接引语与间接引语的转换
When changing direct speech to reported speech, shift the tense back one step, change pronouns and time expressions. If the reporting verb is in the present, the tense does not change.
直接引语变间接引语时,时态往后退一步,同时改变代词和时间表达。若引述动词是现在时,则时态不变。
Direct: 'I am happy,' she said. → Indirect: She said she was happy.
Direct: 'We will come tomorrow,' they said. → Indirect: They said they would come the next day.
9. Apostrophe Rules: Possession and Contraction | 撇号规则:所有格与缩写
Use an apostrophe + s for singular possession (the girl's book). Use an apostrophe after the s for plural possession (the girls' books). For contractions, the apostrophe replaces missing letters (it's = it is; don't = do not). Possessive its has no apostrophe.
单数所有格用 's(the girl's book),复数所有格用 s'(the girls' books)。缩写时撇号代替省略的字母(it's = it is; don't = do not)。物主代词 its 没有撇号。
