10. Common Grammar Mistakes to Avoid | 常见语法错误避坑
Your vs. You're: 'Your' shows possession (your book). 'You're' is short for 'you are'. Test it by replacing with 'you are'.
Your 与 You're:‘Your’表示所有格(你的书)。‘You’re’是‘you are’的缩写。用‘you are’替换试试看。
Their / There / They're: 'Their' = possession. 'There' = place. 'They're' = they are. Always check.
Their / There / They're:‘Their’= 所有格。‘There’= 地点。‘They’re’= they are。务必检查。
Subject-verb agreement: The verb must match the subject in number. She walks (singular), They walk (plural). Watch out for long phrases between subject and verb.
主谓一致:动词必须在数上与主语一致。她走 (单数),他们走 (复数)。小心主语和动词之间的长修饰语。
Double negatives: Using two negatives makes a weak positive. Avoid 'I don't have no time' → 'I have no time' or 'I don't have any time'.
双重否定:两个否定词会变成弱肯定。避免‘我没有没有时间’,应说‘我没有时间’或‘我没时间’。
Run-on sentences: Do not join two independent clauses with only a comma (comma splice). Use a full stop, semicolon or conjunction.
连写句:不要只用逗号连接两个独立分句(逗号拼接)。使用句号、分号或连词。
Inconsistent tense: Keep your tense the same unless the meaning requires a shift. He walked home and eats dinner (incorrect) → He walked home and ate dinner.
时态不一致:除非意义需要,否则保持时态一致。他走路回家然后吃晚饭(错)→ 他走路
