📚 Year 8 WJEC French: High-Frequency Exam Topics and Common Mistakes Analysis | Year 8 WJEC 法语:高频考点与易错题分析
Year 8 French under the WJEC curriculum builds the foundation for GCSE success. Mastery of high-frequency topics and awareness of common pitfalls make a huge difference in test performance. This article breaks down the most tested areas – from present tense conjugation to adjective agreement, from partitive articles to question formation – and highlights the typical mistakes students make, along with clear strategies to avoid them.
Year 8 的 WJEC 法语课程为未来的 GCSE 考试打下关键基础。掌握高频考点并了解常见易错点,能显著提升考试成绩。这篇文章详细拆解了最高频的考查范围——从现在时动词变位到形容词配合,从部分冠词到疑问句构造——并指出了学生最常犯的错误,同时提供了清晰的避免错误的策略。
1. Present Tense Conjugation: Regular and Irregular Verbs | 现在时动词变位:规则与不规则变化
In Year 8, the present tense is the biggest grammar topic. WJEC reading and writing tasks expect you to correctly conjugate -er, -ir and -re verbs. The most common mistake is mixing up endings, especially for -ir verbs like finir (je finis, tu finis, il finit, nous finissons, vous finissez, ils finissent). Many students write 'je finis' correctly but then produce 'nous finons' instead of 'nous finissons'.
在 Year 8,现在时是最大的语法板块。WJEC 的阅读和写作任务都要求你正确变位 -er、-ir 和 -re 动词。最常见的错误是把词尾混淆,尤其是 -ir 动词,比如 finir(je finis, tu finis, il finit, nous finissons, vous finissez, ils finissent)。很多学生能写对 'je finis',但随后却写出了 'nous finons' 而不是 'nous finissons'。
Irregular verbs are tested heavily: être, avoir, aller, faire, pouvoir, vouloir. A classic error is using 'je suis' (I am) instead of 'j'ai' (I have) for age: always 'j'ai douze ans', never 'je suis douze ans'. Another frequent slip is writing 'vous disez' for dire – the correct form is 'vous dites'.
不规则动词是高频考点:être、avoir、aller、faire、pouvoir、vouloir。一个经典错误是用 'je suis' 来表示年龄:永远要用 'j'ai douze ans',而不是 'je suis douze ans'。另一个常见口误是把 dire 写成 'vous disez'——正确形式是 'vous dites'。
- Double-check your endings: -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent for -er verbs.
- 仔细检查词尾:-er 动词是 -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent。
- Memorise the nous and vous forms of -ir verbs; they often insert -iss-.
- 牢记 -ir 动词的 nous 和 vous 形式;它们常插入 -iss-。
- Learn the top 10 irregular verbs by heart; they appear in every exam paper.
- 把前十个最常用的不规则动词背熟;每份考卷都会出现。
2. Adjective Agreement and Position | 形容词的配合与位置
In French, adjectives must agree in gender and number with the noun they describe. The most common error is forgetting to add an -e for feminine or an -s for plural. For example, 'une maison blanc' should be 'une maison blanche'. Many learners also misplace adjectives: most go after the noun, but BAGS (Beauty, Age, Goodness, Size) adjectives come before the noun: 'un beau jardin', 'une vieille dame', 'une bonne idée'.
在法语中,形容词必须与其修饰的名词在性和数上保持一致。最常见的错误是忘记在阴性后加 -e 或在复数后加 -s。例如,'une maison blanc' 应该是 'une maison blanche'。很多学习者还会放错形容词的位置:大多数形容词放在名词后,但 BAGS(美丽、年龄、善良、大小)形容词要放在名词前:'un beau jardin','une vieille dame','une bonne idée'。
Irregular adjectives cause the most trouble: beau becomes belle, nouveau becomes nouvelle, vieux becomes vieille. A frequent mistake is using 'beau' before a feminine noun starting with a vowel: 'une beau amie' is wrong; the correct form is 'une belle amie' (or 'une bel amie' before a vowel is for masculine, not feminine).
不规则形容词最让人头疼:beau 变为 belle,nouveau 变为 nouvelle,vieux 变为 vieille。一个常见错误是把 'beau' 用在一个以元音开头的阴性名词前:'une beau amie' 是错的;正确形式是 'une belle amie'('une bel amie' 只用于以元音开头的阳性名词,这里不适用)。
In writing tasks, always check every adjective: is the noun masculine or feminine? Singular or plural? Where should it be placed? A quick proofread can save many marks.
在写作任务中,务必检查每一个形容词:名词是阳性还是阴性?单数还是复数?它应该放在什么位置?快速审校一下能挽救不少分数。
3. Articles: Definite, Indefinite and Partitive | 冠词:定冠词、不定冠词与部分冠词
Year 8 exams test your ability to use le, la, les, un, une, des, du, de la, de l', des correctly. A classic pitfall is using 'du' for all masculine nouns when talking about food: 'Je bois du eau' is wrong – eau is feminine, so 'Je bois de l'eau' is correct. Partitive articles show an unspecified quantity and appear frequently in shopping, eating and drinking contexts.
Year 8 的考试会重点考查你能否正确使用 le、la、les、un、une、des、du、de la、de l'、des。一个经典的陷阱是谈论食物时把 'du' 用于所有的阳性名词:'Je bois du eau' 是错误的——eau 是阴性,'Je bois de l'eau' 才正确。部分冠词表示不确定的数量,常见于购物、饮食等话题。
After a negative, the partitive and indefinite articles change to 'de' or 'd'': 'Je n'ai pas de voiture', not 'Je n'ai pas une voiture'. Many students forget this rule, costing them easy points. Similarly, after expressions of quantity like 'beaucoup de', 'un peu de', you use 'de' without the article: 'beaucoup de sucre', not 'beaucoup du sucre'.
在否定句中,部分冠词和不定冠词要变成 'de' 或 'd'':'Je n'ai pas de voiture',而不是 'Je n'ai pas une voiture'。很多学生会忘记这条规则,白白丢掉容易的分数。同样,在表示数量的短语如 'beaucoup de'、'un peu de' 之后,直接使用 'de' 而不再加冠词:'beaucoup de sucre',不是 'beaucoup du sucre'。
Practise by describing your shopping list or what you ate yesterday: 'J'achète un kilo de pommes, du pain, de la confiture, de l'eau minérale.'
通过描述购物清单或昨天吃了什么来练习:'J'achète un kilo de pommes, du pain, de la confiture, de l'eau minérale.'
4. Negation: ne...pas, ne...jamais, ne...rien | 否定结构:ne...pas, ne...jamais, ne...rien
Negation in French relies on two parts: 'ne' before the verb and 'pas', 'jamais', 'rien' or 'plus' after the verb. The most common mistake in Year 8 is omitting the 'ne' in spoken-influenced writing, e.g., 'Je joue pas' instead of 'Je ne joue pas'. In written exams, full negation is expected; dropping 'ne' will lose you accuracy marks.
法语否定式由两部分组成:'ne' 放在动词前,'pas'、'jamais'、'rien' 或 'plus' 放在动词后。Year 8 最常见的错误是受口语影响在写作中省略 'ne',比如写 'Je joue pas' 而不是 'Je ne joue pas'。在笔试中,必须写出完整的否定式,漏掉 'ne' 会被扣准确性分。
When the verb starts with a vowel, 'ne' becomes 'n'': 'Je n'aime pas le fromage'. Another tricky area is the word order in compound tenses (passé composé) which appears in some Year 8 extensions: 'Je n'ai pas mangé' – the ne...pas sandwich around the auxiliary verb. However, even in simple present, pupils often misplace 'pas': 'Je ne pas joue' is a frequent error.
当动词以元音开头时,'ne' 缩合成 'n'':'Je n'aime pas le fromage'。另一个难点是复合时态(passé composé)中的语序,有些 Year 8 高阶练习会涉及:'Je n'ai pas mangé'——ne...pas 包裹住助动词。然而,即便在简单现在时,学生经常把 'pas' 的位置放错:'Je ne pas joue' 是一个常见错误。
Remember: 'ne' before the verb, the second word after it. With a direct object pronoun, the structure is 'Je ne le regarde pas', which often trips students up. Practise with different negators: jamais (never), rien (nothing), personne (no one) – but Year 8 focuses mainly on pas and jamais.
记住:'ne' 在动词前,第二个否定词在动词后。如果加上直接宾语代词,结构变成 'Je ne le regarde pas',这常常让学生栽跟头。用不同的否定词来练习:jamais(从不),rien(没什么),personne(没有人)——但 Year 8 主要掌握 pas 和 jamais。
5. Forming Questions: Three Ways | 疑问句的三种构造方式
WJEC listening and speaking tasks require you to recognise and produce questions. There are three question forms: 1) rising intonation (Tu aimes le foot?); 2) est-ce que (Est-ce que tu aimes le foot?); and 3) inversion (Aimes-tu le foot?). The most common written mistake is the incorrect inversion: forgetting the hyphen or misplacing the pronoun. For example, 'Aimes tu le foot?' is missing the hyphen; it must be 'Aimes-tu le foot?'.
WJEC 的听力和口语任务要求你能识别和提出问句。有三种疑问形式:1)语调上升(Tu aimes le foot?);2)用 est-ce que(Est-ce que tu aimes le foot?);3)倒装(Aimes-tu le foot?)。笔头最常见的错误是倒装使用不当:忘记加连字符或者代词位置错误。比如 'Aimes tu le foot?' 漏掉了连字符,必须是 'Aimes-tu le foot?'。
safest bet for writing because it avoids word-order errors. However, pupils often misspell 'est-ce que' as 'es-que' or 'est que'. In listening, you must be able to recognise questions quickly: the phrase 'Qu'est-ce que' often signals a what-question, and 'Qu'est-ce qui' for who/what as subject. Practise turning statements into questions: 'Il va au cinéma' → 'Est-ce qu'il va au cinéma?' or 'Où va-t-il?'.
在 Year 8,est-ce que 结构是写作时最稳妥的选择,因为它能避免语序错误。不过,学生常常把 'est-ce que' 拼错成 'es-que' 或 'est que'。听力中,你必须快速识别问句:短语 'Qu'est-ce que' 通常提示 what 开头的问句,而 'Qu'est-ce qui' 用来问主语。练习把陈述句改成疑问句:'Il va au cinéma' 变成 'Est-ce qu'il va au cinéma?' 或 'Où va-t-il?'。
Interrogative words (où, quand, comment, pourquoi, combien) are tested in gap-fill exercises. A typical mistake: 'Comment as tu?' to ask 'How are you?' – it should be 'Comment vas-tu?' or 'Comment est-ce que tu vas?'. Make a poster of question words with examples to drill in the correct patterns.
疑问词(où, quand, comment, pourquoi, combien)常出现在填空练习中。一个典型错误:用 'Comment as tu?' 来表达 '你好吗?'——正确的应该是 'Comment vas-tu?' 或 'Comment est-ce que tu vas?'。做一张包含疑问词和例句的海报,反复操练正确的句型。
6. Prepositions with Places and Countries | 地点与国家前的介词
Using 'à', 'en', 'au', 'aux' and 'de' correctly with geographical locations is a core skill in Year 8. The rule: feminine countries use 'en' (en France, en Italie); masculine countries use 'au' (au Canada, au Portugal); plural countries use 'aux' (aux États-Unis). Many students say 'à France' or 'en Canada', which is incorrect. The same pattern applies for cities: 'à Paris', 'à Londres'. But some expressions of movement cause confusion: 'Je vais à Paris' vs. 'Je viens de Paris'.
Prepositions with means of transport also test learners: 'à pied' (on foot), 'à vélo', 'en voiture', 'en bus', 'en train'. Never 'dans le bus' for general transport – 'en bus' is correct. In writing about holidays, misuse of 'en' and 'au' for countries is one of the top errors. Create a table:
交通工具前的介词同样考查学生:'à pied'(步行),'à vélo'(骑自行车),'en voiture','en bus','en train'。一般表示交通方式时,绝不能用 'dans le bus'——'en bus' 才是正确的。在写假期话题时,国家前的 'en' 和 'au' 误用是出现频率最高的错误之一。可以制作一个表格:
| Country (Masculine) | au | au Japon, au Brésil |
| Country (Feminine) | en | en Espagne, en Chine |
| Country (Plural) | aux | aux Pays-Bas, aux Philippines |
| City | à | à Berlin, à Rome |
Learn it by heart – it will appear in both reading comprehension and writing.
把这张表背下来——它既会出现在阅读理解里,也会出现在写作中。
7. Numbers, Time and Dates | 数字、时间与日期表达
Year 8 students are expected to use numbers fluently up to 100, but tricky formations like 70 (soixante-dix), 80 (quatre-vingts) and 90 (quatre-vingt-dix) cause persistent errors. Note the 's' on 'quatre-vingts' when it stands alone, but no 's' before another number: 'quatre-vingt-trois'. A common slip is writing 'soixante-onze' for 71; it is 'soixante et onze' (with 'et'). Counting in French Belgium/Swiss is simpler but not tested by WJEC, so stick to the standard French way.
Telling time uses the phrase 'Il est...' followed by the hour. The most frequent mistake is omitting 'heures': 'Il est trois' is incomplete; say 'Il est trois heures'. For minutes, you can use 'et quart', 'moins le quart', 'et demie'. Watch out for gender: 'demie' is feminine because 'heure' is feminine, so 'Il est une heure et demie'. At midday and midnight: 'Il est midi' (not 'douze heures') and 'Il est minuit'.
表达时间用短语 'Il est...' 后跟小时数。最常见的错误是漏掉 'heures':'Il est trois' 是不完整的;要说 'Il est trois heures'。对于分钟,可以用 'et quart'、'moins le quart'、'et demie'。注意阴阳性:'demie' 是阴性,因为 'heure' 是阴性,所以 'Il est une heure et demie'。正午和午夜:用 'Il est midi'(不是 'douze heures')和 'Il est minuit'。
Dates: 'le' + number + month (un for the first): 'le premier mai', 'le deux septembre'. Months are not capitalised in French. Many English-speaking students write 'le 5 Mars' – it should be 'le 5 mars'. Also, days of the week are not capitalised: 'lundi' not 'Lundi'.
日期:'le' + 数字 + 月份(第一天用 un):'le premier mai','le deux septembre'。法语的月份不大写。许多英语母语学生写 'le 5 Mars'——应该是 'le 5 mars'。同样,星期几也不大写:'lundi' 而不是 'Lundi'。
8. Direct Object Pronouns: le, la, les | 直接宾语代词:le, la, les
Object pronouns are introduced in Year 8 and cause confusion because they go before the verb in French, unlike in English. 'Je lis le livre' becomes 'Je le lis' – the pronoun goes right before the conjugated verb. In negative sentences: 'Je ne le lis pas'. A typical mistake is placing the pronoun after the verb: 'Je lis le'. This wrong word order quickly loses marks.
宾语代词在 Year 8 会被引入,而且因为它们在法语中放在动词前面,与英语语序不同,所以常常造成困惑。'Je lis le livre' 变成 'Je le lis'——代词紧挨着变位动词之前。否定句中:'Je ne le lis pas'。一个典型的错误是把代词放在动词之后:'Je lis le'。这种错误的语序会很快丢分。
line singular), la (feminine singular), les (plural for both). Pupils often ignore gender: 'J'aime la pizza' → 'Je l'aime' (using l' before a vowel, not 'Je la aime'). But 'J'aime le chocolat' → 'Je l'aime' as well; the elision hides the gender, so listening and reading rely on context to understand what 'l'' refers to.
代词必须在性和数上保持一致:le(阳性单数),la(阴性单数),les(复数泛指)。学生经常忽略性别:'J'aime la pizza' 变成 'Je l'aime'(在元音前用 l',而不是 'Je la aime')。但是 'J'aime le chocolat' 也变成 'Je l'aime';这种省音隐藏了性别,所以听力和阅读需要依赖上下文来理解 'l'' 指代什么。
Combined with an infinitive, the pronoun goes before the infinitive: 'Je vais le faire', 'Je peux les voir'. The mistake 'Je vais faire le' is extremely common. Drill with flash cards showing full sentences and their pronoun-replaced versions.
与不定式连用时,代词放在不定式前面:'Je vais le faire','Je peux les voir'。错误说法 'Je vais faire le' 极其常见。用闪卡给出完整句子及其代词替代版本来进行反复训练。
9. High-Frequency Vocabulary: Cognates, False Friends and Tricky Pairs | 高频词汇:同源词、假朋友与易混淆词对
Year 8 reading and listening tasks reward vocabulary knowledge. Cognates (words that look like English) help: musique, télévision, appartement. But watch out for faux amis: 'un coin' is a corner, not a coin; 'travailler' means to work, not to travel; 'librairie' is a bookshop, not a library. WJEC often uses these false friends as distractors in multiple-choice questions.
Year 8 的阅读和听力任务会奖励词汇知识。同源词(看上去像英语的单词)很有帮助:musique、télévision、appartement。但要当心假朋友:'un coin' 是角落,而不是硬币;'travailler' 是工作,而不是旅行;'librairie' 是书店,而不是图书馆。WJEC 常在选择题中用这些假朋友作为干扰项。
Certain verb pairs are tested intensively: savoir vs. connaître (both mean 'to know', but savoir for facts, connaître for people/places); jouer à (sports) vs. jouer de (instruments): 'Je joue au tennis' vs. 'Je joue du piano'. A classic blunder: 'Je joue le piano' is wrong without 'de'.
某些动词对是高频考点:savoir 与 connaître(都表示 '知道',但 savoir 用于知道事实,connaître 用于认识人或地方);jouer à(体育运动)与 jouer de(乐器):'Je joue au tennis' 对 'Je joue du piano'。一个经典的错误:'Je joue le piano' 没有 'de' 是不对的。
Food and drink vocabulary often includes partitive articles: 'du café', 'de la confiture', 'de l'eau', 'des croissants'. The verb 'prendre' (to take) is used for ordering: 'Je prends un chocolat chaud'. Don't lose marks by writing 'Je voudrai' (wrong future stem for vouloir) instead of 'Je voudrais' (conditional of politeness).
食物和饮料词汇常伴随部分冠词:'du café'、'de la confiture'、'de l'eau'、'des croissants'。动词 'prendre' 用来点餐:'Je prends un chocolat chaud'。别把礼貌条件式 'Je voudrais' 误写成 'Je voudrai'(vouloir 的错误将来时词干)而丢分。
10. Written Production: Structuring Sentences and Avoiding Common Errors | 写作:搭建句子与避免常见错误
The writing paper asks for short paragraphs on topics like my family, my house, my school, my hobbies. A frequent error is writing a string of simple sentences without connectives. Year 8 candidates should use 'et', 'mais', 'parce que', 'donc' to link ideas. 'J'aime le sport parce que c'est amusant' is much better than two separate sentences.
写作部分要求就诸如 my family、my house、my school、my hobbies 这些话题写一小段话。一个常见错误是写一串简单句,不用连词。Year 8 考生应使用 'et'、'mais'、'parce que'、'donc' 来连接观点。'J'aime le sport parce que c'est amusant' 比两个分离的句子好得多。
Adjectival agreement and article errors are the most penalised. Before writing, jot down the gender of key nouns: une maison, un jardin, un frère, une sœur. Then every adjective and article must match. Also, capitalise proper nouns but not nationalities when used as adjectives: 'Il est anglais'; 'un livre anglais'.
形容词配合与冠词错误扣分最多。动笔之前,先快速写下关键名词的性:une maison,un jardin,un frère,une sœur。然后每个形容词和冠词都必须与之对应。此外,专有名词要大写,但作为形容词使用的国籍不大写:'Il est anglais';'un livre anglais'。
Time phrases improve structure: 'D'habitude, je me lève à sept heures', 'Le week-end, je vais au centre commercial'. Many pupils forget the comma after the time phrase. Also, try to vary vocabulary – instead of always 'c'est bien', use 'c'est intéressant', 'c'est génial', 'ça me plaît'. But don't use words you cannot spell; accuracy matters more than ambition.
时间短语能改善结构:'D'habitude, je me lève à sept heures','Le week-end, je vais au centre commercial'。很多学生忘记在时间短语后加逗号。此外,尽量变换词汇——不要总是用 'c'est bien',可以用 'c'est intéressant','c'est génial','ça me plaît'。但别用你不会拼写的词;准确性比野心更重要。
11. Listening and Reading: Strategies for Success | 听力与阅读:成功的应试策略
Listening tasks in WJEC Year 8 often feature distractors: you will hear an initial statement then a changed one. For example, 'Je voudrais un café... ah non, un thé finalement'. The correct answer is 'a tea', not 'a coffee'. Students who stop listening after the first phrase fall into this trap. Always listen to the whole recording before choosing.
WJEC Year 8 的听力任务经常设置干扰信息:你会先听到一个说法,然后它被改变了。比如,'Je voudrais un café... ah non, un thé finalement'。正确答案是 '茶',而不是 '咖啡'。那些听到第一个短语就停下来的学生会掉进这个陷阱。务必听完整个录音再做选择。
eading comprehension often requires understanding synonyms or rephrasing. If the text says 'Je passe mes vacances au bord de la mer' and the question asks 'Where does he spend his holiday?', the options might include 'à la mer' – recognise it means the same as 'au bord de la mer'. Build your synonym bank: 'le déjeuner' = 'le repas de midi'; 'le soir' = 'dans la soirée'.
阅读理解常常要求能识别同义词或改写。如果课文写道 'Je passe mes vacances au bord de la mer',而问题是 '他在哪里度假?',选项中可能会有 'à la mer'——要能认出这和 'au bord de la mer' 意思相同。建立你的同义词库:'le déjeuner' = 'le repas de midi';'le soir' = 'dans la soirée'。
In both skills, watch out for qualifiers like 'tous les jours' (every day), 'souvent' (often), 'parfois' (sometimes), 'ne...jamais' (never). These tiny words change the meaning entirely and are favourite test items. Highlight them as you read the question paper.
在这两项技能中,都要注意像 'tous les jours'(每天)、'souvent'(经常)、'parfois'(有时)、'ne...jamais'(从不)这样的限定词。这些小词能彻底改变意思,是命题人的得意考点。在读题时把它们高亮出来。
12. Speaking and Pronunciation: Fluency and Common Slips | 口语与发音:流利度与常见口误
The speaking exam tests pronunciation, intonation and ability to answer spontaneously. The most penalised pronunciation errors are: not pronouncing the final consonant in words like 'parfum', 'long', 'est' (the 't' is silent); and mispronouncing nasal vowels: bon (ɔ̃) vs bonne (ɔn). 'Un bon vin' should have a single nasal sound in 'bon'. Mimic native recordings to perfect these.
口语考试考查发音、语调以及即兴回答的能力。扣分最多的发音错误是:像 'parfum'、'long'、'est' 这样的词,末尾的辅音是不发音的('t' 不发音);以及鼻化元音的误读:bon(ɔ̃)和 bonne(ɔn)。'Un bon vin' 中的 'bon' 应该发一个单一的鼻化音。模仿母语录音来完善这些发音。
Many students confuse 'tu' and 'vous' under pressure. In a role-play with a teacher, 'vous' is always safer. Using 'tu' to an examiner can lose marks unless the task explicitly expects informal address. Also, the verb ending with 'tu' demands the -s ending: 'Tu parles' not 'Tu parle'.
