📚 Year 8 CIE Chemistry: Summer Preview & Bridging Course | Year 8 CIE 化学:暑期预习与衔接课程

Summer break is a perfect time to consolidate your Year 7 chemistry knowledge and get a head start on Year 8 topics. This bridging course will help you revisit essential concepts, fill any gaps, and prepare for more advanced ideas in the CIE curriculum.

暑假是巩固七年级化学知识、提前接触八年级内容的最佳时机。这份衔接课程将帮助你复习核心概念、弥补不足,并为 CIE 课程中更深的概念做好准备。

1. What to Expect in Year 8 Chemistry | 八年级化学概览

Year 8 Chemistry builds directly on the fundamentals you covered in Year 7. You will explore the structure of the atom, learn to use the Periodic Table, write simple chemical formulae, and carry out reactions in the lab. Mastering these topics now will make your school year much smoother.

八年级化学直接建立在你七年级所学的基础知识之上。你将探索原子结构、学习使用元素周期表、书写简单的化学式,并在实验室进行化学反应。现在掌握这些主题将使你新学年的学习更加顺利。

This bridging course revises key ideas such as states of matter and particle theory, then introduces new concepts like balancing equations and acid–base reactions. A strong start in Year 8 helps you build confidence for the IGCSE years ahead.

这个衔接课程复习物质状态和粒子理论等关键概念,然后介绍新概念,如配平化学方程式和酸碱反应。八年级的良好开端能帮助你建立信心,为未来的IGCSE学习做好准备。

2. Particle Theory and States of Matter | 粒子理论与物质状态

All matter is made of tiny particles that are constantly moving. The arrangement and energy of these particles determine whether a substance is a solid, liquid or gas. In solids, particles are closely packed in a regular pattern and vibrate in fixed positions.

所有物质都由不断运动的微小粒子组成。这些粒子的排列方式和能量决定了物质是固体、液体还是气体。在固体中,粒子紧密排列成规则的图案,并在固定的位置上振动。

When you heat a solid, the particles gain energy and vibrate more vigorously. At the melting point, they break free from their fixed positions and move around each other – the solid becomes a liquid. Further heating gives particles enough energy to overcome all attractions, turning the liquid into a gas.

当你加热固体时,粒子获得能量,振动得更剧烈。在熔点时,粒子挣脱固定位置并相互滑动——固体变为液体。继续加热使粒子获得足够能量克服所有吸引力,液体变为气体。

You also need to understand diffusion, which is the movement of particles from an area of high concentration to low concentration. Diffusion happens fastest in gases and is evidence for the particle model.

你还需要理解扩散,这是粒子从高浓度区域向低浓度区域的运动。扩散在气体中最快,是粒子模型的证据之一。

3. Atoms, Elements and the Periodic Table | 原子、元素与周期表

An atom is the smallest particle of an element that can take part in a chemical reaction. Atoms consist of a tiny central nucleus containing protons and neutrons, surrounded by electrons moving in shells. The number of protons (atomic number) defines the element.

原子是能参与化学反应的元素的最小粒子。原子由包含质子和中子的微小中心原子核,以及按电子层排布的电子组成。质子数(原子序数)决定了元素的种类。

The Periodic Table arranges all known elements in order of increasing atomic number. Rows are called periods and columns are called groups. Elements in the same group have the same number of electrons in their outer shell and thus similar chemical properties. For example, Group 1 contains lithium, sodium and potassium – all very reactive metals.

元素周期表按原子序数递增的顺序排列所有已知元素。横排称为周期,纵列称为族。同一族的元素最外层电子数相同,因此化学性质相似。例如,第 1 族包含锂、钠和钾——它们都是非常活泼的金属。

You will need to identify metals and non-metals from their positions, and describe trends within groups, such as how reactivity changes down Group 1 (increases) or Group 7 (decreases). Familiarising yourself with the first 20 elements is an excellent summer goal.

你需要根据元素在周期表中的位置来判断它是金属还是非金属,并描述族内的变化趋势,例如第 1 族从上到下反应性增强,而第 7 族从上到下反应性减弱。熟悉前 20 号元素是个很好的暑期目标。

4. Compounds and Chemical Formulae | 化合物与化学式

When two or more different elements chemically combine, they form a compound. Compounds have properties that are different from the elements they are made of. For example, sodium is a highly reactive metal and chlorine is a poisonous gas, but together they make sodium chloride – table salt.

当两种或两种以上的不同元素通过化学方式结合时,就形成了化合物。化合物的性质与组成它们的元素不同。例如,钠是一种非常活泼的金属,氯是一种有毒气体,但它们结合形成氯化钠——食盐。

Chemical formulae use symbols and numbers to show the types and ratios of atoms in a compound. You must learn how to write formulae for common ionic compounds by balancing charges. For instance, magnesium chloride is MgCl₂ because Mg²⁺ needs two Cl⁻ ions to balance the charge. Subscripts indicate the number of atoms.

化学式使用符号和数字来表示化合物中原子的种类和比例。你必须学会通过平衡电荷来书写常见离子化合物的化学式。例如,氯化镁的化学式是 MgCl₂,因为 Mg²⁺ 需要两个 Cl⁻ 离子来平衡电荷。下角标
