1. Why Summer Prep Matters | 为什么暑期预习很重要
Over the long summer break, it is completely normal to forget some of the French you learned in Year 7. Taking a little time each week to revisit key concepts stops that knowledge from slipping away and helps you enter Year 8 feeling prepared rather than overwhelmed. AQA French syllabuses build on cumulative knowledge: the present tense you mastered last year will be the foundation for talking about the future, describing your daily routine and eventually using the past tense. A consistent summer routine – even just 15 minutes a day – strengthens your long-term memory and makes new material easier to absorb when you return to the classroom.
Furthermore, AQA assessments throughout Key Stage 3 and into GCSE focus on real communication. Your ability to understand and produce language spontaneously is built gradually through regular exposure. Summer prep is not about studying non-stop; it is about keeping the language alive in your mind through little and often practice. You can label objects around your house, listen to a French song, or write a short diary entry – all of these small acts contribute to feeling at ease when you walk into your first Year 8 French lesson.
此外,贯穿 Key Stage 3 并延续至 GCSE 的 AQA 评估都聚焦于真实的交际能力。你理解并自然产出语言的能力是经由持续的接触逐步建立起来的。暑期预习并非要求你无休止地学习,而是要通过少量多次的练习让语言在大脑中保持鲜活。你可以给家中物品贴上法语标签,听一首法语歌曲,或者写一篇简短的日记——所有这些小举动都能帮助你在走进八年级第一节法语课时感到轻松自在。
2. Revisiting the Present Tense: Regular -ER Verbs | 复习现在时:规则 -ER 动词
The present tense is the backbone of all your communication in French. In Year 8 you will be expected to use it confidently across a range of topics, from describing your family to talking about hobbies. A huge number of French verbs end in -ER, and they follow a wonderfully predictable pattern once you know the endings. To conjugate a regular -ER verb, remove the -er from the infinitive and add -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent. Mastering this pattern early saves you time and builds accuracy in both writing and speaking.
现在时是你在法语中一切交流的支柱。在八年级,你将被要求在一系列话题中自信地运用现在时,从描述家人到谈论爱好。大量法语动词以 -ER 结尾,一旦你掌握了词尾变化,它们就遵循着一个非常容易预测的模式。要变位一个规则的 -ER 动词,去掉不定式中的 -er,然后加上 -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent。尽早掌握这一规律能为你节省时间,并提高写作与口语的准确性。
Here is the model verb parler (to speak) conjugated fully. Notice how the endings attach neatly to the stem parl-.
以下是示范动词 parler(说话)的完整变位。请注意词尾如何整齐地附着在词干 parl- 上。
| Subject | Parler | 中文 |
| je | parle | 我说 |
| tu | parles | 你说 |
| il/elle/on | parle | 他/她/人们说 |
| nous | parlons | 我们说 |
| vous | parlez | 您/你们说 |
| ils/elles | parlent | 他们/她们说 |
Practise by conjugating other common -ER verbs such as aimer (to like), habiter (to live), écouter (to listen), and jouer (to play). A great summer exercise is to write out the full conjugation for five new verbs each week and then create simple sentences: J'écoute de la musique. (I listen to music.) Nous aimons le football. (We like football.) Saying these aloud will also reinforce your pronunciation.
你可以练习变位其他常见的 -ER 动词,比如 aimer(喜欢)、habiter(居住)、écouter(听)和 jouer(玩)。一个很好的暑期练习是每周写出五个新动词的完整变位,然后造出简单的句子:J'écoute de la musique.(我听音乐。)Nous aimons le football.(我们喜欢足球。)大声朗读这些句子同样能巩固你的发音。
3. Adjective Agreement: Making Descriptions Match | 形容词性数配合:让描述一致
In French, adjectives must agree with the noun they describe in gender (masculine or feminine) and number (singular or plural). This concept often catches learners out, especially when they rush through a piece of writing. The basic rule is simple: add an -e for most feminine adjectives, add an -s for most plurals, and combine both when you have feminine plural. For example, un garçon intelligent (an intelligent boy) becomes une fille intelligente, and des garçons intelligents. Getting into the habit of checking adjective agreements now will save you countless marks in future assessments.
Some adjectives are irregular and need extra attention. Common ones include beau/belle (beautiful), nouveau/nouvelle (new), vieux/vieille (old), and bon/bonne (good). A useful summer exercise is to describe family members or celebrities using a mix of regular and irregular adjectives. Write down: Ma mère est belle et intelligente. Mon père est sportif et amusant. (My mum is beautiful and intelligent. My dad is sporty and funny.) This will help you internalise the changes without having to think about them.
有些形容词是不规则变化的,需要特别注意。常见的包括 beau/belle(美丽的)、nouveau/nouvelle(新的)、vieux/vieille(年老的)以及 bon/bonne(好的)。一个有用的暑期练习是用规则和不规则形容词混合着描述家人或名人。写下:Ma mère est belle et intelligente. Mon père est sportif et amusant.(我妈妈美丽又聪明。我爸爸爱运动又有趣。)这将帮助你在无需刻意思考的情况下把这些变化内化于心。
4. Key Irregular Verbs: être, avoir, aller, faire | 关键不规则动词:être, avoir, aller, faire
Four verbs dominate everyday French, and you cannot afford to be unsure about their forms. Être (to be), avoir (to have), aller (to go) and faire (to do/make) appear in countless expressions and are used as auxiliary verbs for other tenses. Learning their full present tense conjugations by heart is one of the highest-impact tasks you can complete over the summer. Once you know them securely, you unlock the ability to describe yourself, state your age, talk about where you are going, and discuss activities you do.
四个动词在日常法语中占据主导地位,你绝不能对它们的变位模棱两可。Être(是)、avoir(有)、aller(去)和 faire(做)出现在数不胜数的表达中,并且还被用作其他时态的助动词。在暑假里把这些动词的现在时完整变位烂熟于心,是你能完成的最高回报任务之一。一旦扎实掌握它们,你就解锁了描述自己、说明年龄、谈论去向以及讨论所做活动的能力。
Study the tables below and test yourself regularly by covering one column and trying to write out the full conjugation from memory.
请学习下方的表格,并通过遮住一栏并凭记忆写出完整变位的方法进行定期自测。
| Subject | être | avoir | aller | faire |
| je | suis | ai | vais | fais |
| tu | es | as | vas | fais |
| il/elle/on | est | a | va | fait |
| nous | sommes | avons | allons | faisons |
| vous | êtes | avez | allez | faites |
| ils/elles | sont | ont | vont | font |
Combine these verbs with vocabulary you already know to build meaningful sentences. For example: Je suis anglais et j'ai douze ans. Le weekend, je vais au parc et je fais du vélo. (I am English and I am twelve years old. At the weekend, I go to the park and I ride my bike.) The more you use these irregular forms in real contexts, the more natural they will feel.
请将这些动词与你已经掌握的词汇组合起来,造出有意义的句子。例如:Je suis anglais et j'ai douze ans. Le weekend, je vais au parc et je fais du vélo.(我是英国人,十二岁。周末我去公园骑自行车。)在真实的语境中使用这些不规则形式越多,它们就越会显得自然而然。
5. Expanding Vocabulary: Family and Descriptions | 扩展词汇:家庭与描述
One of the first topics you revisit in Year 8 is talking about your family and describing people. Building a solid bank of nouns, adjectives and connectives around this theme will help you produce richer, more varied sentences. Start with the core family members: ma mère, mon père, ma sœur, mon frère, ma grand-mère, mon grand-père. Note that ma becomes mon before a vowel sound, so we say mon amie not ma amie.
在八年级,你会重新接触的第一个话题之一便是谈论家人与描述人物。围绕这一主题建立一个扎实的名词、形容词和连接词词库,将帮助你产出更丰富、更多样的句子。先从核心家庭成员开始:ma mère, mon père, ma sœur, mon frère, ma grand-mère, mon grand-père。请注意 ma 在元音前会变成 mon,因此我们说 mon amie 而不是 ma amie。
For descriptions, equip yourself with words for hair and eyes, as well as personality adjectives. Common combinations include:
在描述人物方面,请掌握有关头发和眼睛的词汇,以及性格形容词。常见搭配包括:
- les cheveux bruns / blonds / roux (brown / blond / red hair) – 棕色/金色/红色头发
- les yeux bleus / verts / marron (blue / green / brown eyes) – 蓝色/绿色/棕色眼睛
- sympa, drôle, timide, bavard(e), sportif/sportive (nice, funny, shy, chatty, sporty) – 友善、有趣、害羞、健谈、热爱运动
Write a paragraph describing three family members in detail. Use connectives like et, mais and aussi to link ideas. Reading your paragraph aloud helps fix the vocabulary in your memory and improves your fluency for oral tasks later.
请详细写一段描述三个家庭成员的段落。使用 et、mais 和 aussi 等连接词来串联想法。大声朗读你的段落有助于将词汇固定在记忆中,并提升你未来口语任务的流利度。
6. Talking About School | 谈论学校
School is a central topic in AQA French, covering subjects, uniform, teachers, and your opinions about them. Rehearsing the names of subjects early will allow you to participate actively from the first week of term. Key subjects include:
