Common App 库克奖学金 截止日 推荐信 早申

2026 年 11 月，早申窗口已经开了三个多月。不少家长这时才发现另一件事：孩子想申的那份奖学金，截止日比学校还早两周，而校内那一关早就过了。奖学金和学校申请是两条并行的线。材料能共用，时间表不能共用。下面把两条线怎么对齐讲清楚，也把最容易漏掉的几个内部截止日摆出来。

November is when families discover that an award they had pencilled in for January closed quietly in October. US applications run on two clocks at once: the university's own deadline, and the separate deadline attached to every funding award a student wants to be considered for. The documents overlap almost completely while the dates do not, and the gap between them is where international applications come apart. What follows is a working map of that gap, written for families applying from outside the US.

Common App 与奖学金系统是两套入口

Common App 负责把个人信息、成绩单、推荐信和文书送到学校。奖学金走另一条通道，学校财务援助办公室审一批，校外基金会自己审一批。库克奖学金这类由基金会评审的项目，入口、表单和评审人都与学校分开。很多学生以为勾了 financial aid 就等于把奖学金都申了。这个勾只触发学校这一侧的资助评估。基金会那边要单独注册、单独填表、单独找人写推荐信。材料能复用，活动列表和推荐人联系方式是同一套，提交这个动作得做两次。漏掉的那一次不会收到任何提醒邮件。

Common App is a delivery mechanism, not a funding application. Ticking the financial aid box starts an institutional review at that one university and nothing else, while a foundation-run award such as the Cooke Scholarship keeps its own portal, its own forms and its own readers; because the underlying documents are identical, families assume the submission is too. In practice the second submission is the one that disappears, since no confirmation ever arrives to say it was never made. Keep the two as separate projects sharing a single folder of evidence.

三层截止日与校内提名

奖学金页面只写一个日期，真正卡人的是它前面那两个。升学顾问要在校内系统里提交提名或推荐信。这个内部截止日通常比基金会截止日早一到三周。碰上期中考试周或感恩节假期，日期还会再提前。推荐人本身也有排期，一位顾问一个申请季能写的信有限，先到先排。常见的错误是把官网日期抄进日历就当作安排完了。等到十一月下旬才去问顾问，得到的答复往往是没有名额。学校九月会发一份内部时间表，那份表比任何攻略都准。

A published scholarship deadline is the last of three, and the two hidden ones bite first. Counsellors submit nominations through an internal system weeks before the foundation portal closes, and that date moves earlier whenever a school holiday or mock exam week lands beside it; recommenders ration their letters, so a request filed in late November often meets a full list rather than a yes. The families who avoid this are the ones who read the school's own internal deadline sheet instead of working backwards from a website. It is a dull document and it decides the outcome.

ED 的约束与资助评估的先后

Early Decision is binding, which turns a funding question into a commitment problem. At a need-aware college the aid request is visible during ED review, and once admitted the student must enrol without comparing packages from elsewhere; Regular Decision leaves room to weigh offers, so families who need leverage usually keep their strongest file for January. Need-blind admission for international applicants exists at only a handful of institutions, each stating its policy on its own financial aid pages. Appeals after an ED admit are technically possible and almost never change the binding terms.

国际生能拿到的 need-based 资助

Funding for international undergraduates splits into two streams that behave nothing alike. Merit awards usually arrive automatically with the application and rest on grades, activities and essays, while need-based aid demands separate financial forms, translated income documents and sometimes a verification interview; very few institutions promise need-blind treatment to applicants from outside the US, and those that do publish the policy on their aid pages. Confusing the two streams produces the classic mistake of filing a financial form and expecting a full ride. The form reports capacity, not entitlement.

Students who have spent several years in an English-medium school can often waive the TOEFL or IELTS, though how many years count varies by institution. The waiver is a request rather than a setting: it must be selected and backed by a school letter confirming the language of instruction, and without that step the file is read as a standard international application; scores that exist but were never sent leave the system empty. Checking delivery status two weeks before the deadline beats sitting another test. Admissions offices verify the waiver once, at file review.

成绩单与 mid-year report 的送达

截止日填的是提交时间，学校看的是材料齐不齐。成绩单要由学校直接寄送或通过系统上传。学生自己扫描的版本多数学校不收。mid-year report 在十二月成绩出来后补交。一月截止的学校会等这份材料，再读完整个申请。语言成绩的官方送分要三到十个工作日。材料缺失时学校一般发邮件催一次，那封邮件很容易落进垃圾箱。

What counts is a complete file, not a submitted button. Transcripts must come from the school directly, whether uploaded by a counsellor or sent through a verified service, because scans supplied by the applicant are refused almost everywhere; a mid-year report follows the December results, and January deadlines wait for it before reading a file in full. Official test scores take days to land, so a request placed on the deadline itself is already late. Missing-document emails get sent once and reach spam with predictable regularity.

奖学金文书与主文书的分工

主文书讲的是这个人怎么长成现在这样。奖学金文书要回答的是这笔钱为什么该给你。两篇的读者不同，招生官读的是班级构成，基金会读的是资助理由和后续投入。把主文书改个开头交上去，评审一眼能看出来。写奖学金文书更有效的做法是给一个具体的花费结构。或者给一个已经做成的项目，让评审看到钱去了哪里。题目里问到的数字要算准，评审会核对学费和生活费的构成。篇幅通常五百词上下，超了先删形容词。

A personal statement explains how someone became who they are; a scholarship essay argues why this fund should pay for the next four years. The readers differ, since admissions officers build a class while foundation reviewers weigh impact and follow-through. Reusing the main essay with a new opening line is visible within one paragraph. Strong funding essays name a concrete cost or a finished project, and they stay near five hundred words because adjectives persuade nobody.

推荐信名额与顾问排期

国际学校的一位升学顾问往往带几十个学生。能写多少封推荐信有上限。奖学金项目常要求一封来自顾问的提名信。这封信和 Common App 里的 counselor letter 内容不同，工作量也不是一个量级。十月才提要求，顾问大概率只能给一份模板化的版本。九月开学第一周就去谈，把奖学金名称、截止日、需要回答的问题一次说清楚。推荐人换过的情况要提前说明，别让学校在系统里发现两套说法。

Counsellors at international schools carry dozens of students each, and their letter budget is finite. A scholarship nomination letter is not the same document as the Common App counsellor letter, and it takes considerably more work to produce; requests arriving in October tend to get a generic version assembled from a template. Raising the matter in the first week of term, with the award name, the deadline and the prompt in hand, changes what is possible. Any change of referee should be explained early, before a school notices two versions of the same story.

Shortlisted candidates usually face an interview, ranging from a twenty minute video call to a full assessment day. Questions cluster around three things: why this subject, how the money will be used, and whether the student intends to return home after graduating; naming a specific course, laboratory or supervisor carries more weight than describing a childhood passion. Reviewing the submitted file the night before matters because the panel is holding those pages and will notice contradictions. Test the connection in advance, since a dropped call is an opportunity spent.

家长在 11 月能核对的材料

这个阶段能改的东西不多，能核对的东西不少。登录 Common App 看推荐信和成绩单的状态是不是 submitted。别只看 application 那一栏的绿勾。基金会的账号是否注册、表是否保存、推荐人是否收到邀请邮件，这三件事会各自单独失败。财务表格里的收入数字要和税单对得上。差一个数量级就得重填。邮箱里搜一遍奖学金的域名，确认没有漏掉的确认信。家里有两套地址或两份监护安排的，提前统一口径。

By November the writing is largely fixed and the checking is not. Log into Common App and confirm that transcripts and letters show as submitted rather than merely requested, since the application banner stays green either way; a foundation account, a saved form and an invitation that actually reached the referee fail independently of one another. Income figures should match the tax documents to the digit, because a mismatch of one order of magnitude means starting over. Households with two addresses or split custody should settle on one version before a school asks.

2026 到 2027 申请季的时间表

按 2027 年秋季入学倒推。2026 年 8 月 1 日 Common App 开放。校内提名截止多集中在 9 月中到月底。10 月中旬多数基金会要求推荐信到位。11 月 1 日 ED 与 EA 截止。11 月中到 12 月初是奖学金本体的截止窗口。12 月中 ED 放榜，1 月 1 日前后 RD 截止。2 月补交 mid-year report，3 月下旬 RD 放榜，5 月 1 日是多数学校的确认入读日。日期每年会挪几天，具体以 Common App 官网和学校官网当年页面为准。

Work backwards from an autumn 2027 start. Common App opens on 1 August 2026, internal nominations cluster from mid to late September, foundation letters are due around mid October, and Early Decision and Early Action close on 1 November; scholarship portals themselves tend to shut between mid November and early December, with ED results in mid December and Regular Decision near 1 January. Mid-year reports follow in February and the reply date sits on 1 May. Dates drift by a few days each cycle, so the current pages on the Common App and university sites overrule any printed table.

被延后与进候补之后

ED 被 defer 不是拒。材料会被放进 RD 池子重新读一遍。这时候能做的是补一份秋季成绩更新的说明。一页写清楚进展，别写成长信。候补名单上的学生要确认自己是否接受了候补位置。很多学校要求在一个日期前点确认，错过就等于放弃。奖学金那边如果已经截止，通常没有第二轮。部分基金会允许次年重新申请，条件写在官网的 eligibility 页面。被拒之后最没用的动作是打电话问原因。

A deferral moves the file into the regular pool rather than ending it, and the useful response is one short page of autumn results. Waitlisted applicants must confirm the place by the stated date or lose it without notice; closed scholarship funds rarely reopen, though some foundations accept a fresh application in the following cycle under rules published on their eligibility pages. Calling an admissions office for a reason is the least productive move available. Reworking the same material for the next institution is the most.
