Non-exam assessment (NEA) is the umbrella term used by the UK awarding organisations and JCQ for any part of a qualification that is marked by the centre rather than by an external examiner. It covers coursework essays, portfolios, fieldwork reports, practical investigations, performances, artefacts, speaking tests and the Extended Project Qualification. If a teacher marks it and a moderator checks the marking, it is NEA.
