Before you start, learn the terms. Most pre-departure disasters are misunderstandings of vocabulary rather than genuine refusals.

A share code is a short code, usually starting with a letter, that you generate yourself and give to a third party so they can check your status online. It is time-limited, so you generate a fresh one each time someone needs to check you.

3. Step 1: Create Your UKVI Account | 第一步：创建 UKVI 账户
Go to the official GOV.UK service and search for creating a UKVI account. Do not use any third-party website, and never pay a fee for this step. Creating a UKVI account is free.

Have these items in front of you: your passport, your BRP number or UAN, your date of birth as written on the application, an email address you will still control in three years, and a phone number that can receive a one-time code.

There are two routes. The fast route uses the ID Check app on a smartphone. The alternative route is an in-person appointment at a visa application centre, which you should choose if your phone cannot read document chips or your document has no chip.

The app route requires a phone with near-field communication (NFC), which most phones released in the last few years have. If that passport is not linked to your eVisa, the system sees no permission at all, and the check-in agent has no legal option but to refuse boarding.
