2. The Core Rule: One Attempt Per Test Per Cycle | 核心规则：每个申请周期、每项测试只能考一次
The rule is short enough to memorise. In any one application cycle, a candidate may sit each UAT-UK test once, and once only. An application cycle is the admissions round for a particular year of entry, so the cycle for 2026 entry is a single box: inside it you get one ESAT attempt, one TMUA attempt and one TARA attempt, depending on what your courses require.

Attempts allowed per test per application cycle = 1
This is not a soft guideline or a matter of good manners. It is enforced by the booking system: once you hold a confirmed booking for a test in a cycle, you cannot create a second booking for the same test in that cycle. Any attempt to sit the same test again by another route — a different account, a different test centre, a different name — is treated as malpractice, and the standard consequences are cancellation of results and referral to the universities concerned.

Selective admissions tests are calibrated so that a single sitting produces a comparable signal for everyone, and repeated attempts would erode that comparability. A candidate who scores 7.0 on a second attempt after scoring 5.5 on a first is not simply 'better' — they have had two chances, and the university cannot tell the difference.
