英国预科语言班 6到30周 学术写作 签证
拿到有条件录取之后，很多学生以为差的那 0.5 分只能靠再考一次雅思。英国大学普遍给了另一条路径：先读 6 到 30 周不等的预科或语言班，用课程成绩替代雅思成绩，再进入学位课程。这条路径的规则一半写在学校官网，一半写在英国政府官网 gov.uk 的签证条文里。下面按课程类型、时长分级、英语要求、费用与截止日期、签证与时间规划几块拆开讲。
Conditional offer in hand, many students assume the only way past a half-band shortfall is another test sitting. Most UK universities offer a different route, a pre-sessional English or foundation course of six to 30 weeks whose final result replaces the test score for entry, but the rules for that route are split between university pages and the immigration rules on gov.uk, so the timing has to be planned backwards from the start of the degree.
预科与语言班在签证条文里是两类课程
英国政府官网 gov.uk 的 Appendix Student 把预科与语言班分别列成可以申请的课程类型，前者写成 recognised foundation programme，后者写成 pre-sessional English course。院校赞助方指南给出的定义更细：预科为本科阶段做准备，涵盖大学预科课程、国际预科年与国际大一，但不含 A-Level、IB 与 pre-A-Level 课程。语言班的目标是补齐英语与学术技能，它不需要通向一个受监管资格。很多学生以为两者可以互相替代，实际在签证上差别很大。语言班通常挂在主课录取之下，预科更像一条独立的升学路线。课程时长、出勤要求与英语证明方式三处都不同。
In the Immigration Rules, gov.uk treats a recognised foundation programme and a pre-sessional English course as two distinct types of study you can apply for; sponsor guidance then defines a foundation course as preparation for undergraduate study, covering university foundation courses, international foundation years and international year one, while excluding A-Level, IB and pre-A-Level routes. Pre-sessional courses instead build English and academic skills and do not have to lead to a regulated qualification. Because the attendance rules, course length limits and proof of English all differ, treating the two as interchangeable causes mistakes later on.
周数由雅思落差决定
周数多少不是学校随意定的，而是按当前成绩与主课要求的落差分级。Essex 官网写明 10 周班对应约 0.5 分落差、15 周班对应 1.0 分、20 周班对应 1.5 分。Lancaster 官网把 20 周班写成需要 1.5 分提升、30 周班需要 2.0 分提升。Sheffield 官网的处理更直接：6 周班要求总分差距不超过 0.5 分，且每个单项不低于 5.5。常见的错误是只盯着总分，忽略单项门槛。写作与听力的小分往往才是决定读几周的关键。落差越大，越要提前几个月报名。
The number of weeks is set by how far your current score sits below the entry requirement rather than by preference. Essex maps a 10-week course to roughly a 0.5-band gap, 15 weeks to a full band and 20 weeks to 1.5, while Lancaster describes its 20-week programme as a 1.5-band uplift and its 30-week route as 2.0. Sheffield sets a tighter ceiling for its short course, allowing no more than half a band overall and requiring at least 5.5 in every component.
每周 15 小时是签证硬要求
英国政府官网 gov.uk 的 Appendix Student 有一条硬性要求：语言班这类低于学位层级的全日制课程，必须安排每周至少 15 小时白天课堂学习。时段限定在周一至周五的 8 点到 18 点之间。这条规则决定了语言班不能做成纯线上自学，也不能只排晚间课。Aberdeen 官网公布的课表把课时排进工作日白天，正是照这条规则设计。这一步最容易出问题的地方是学生自行缺课，出勤率下滑后学校有义务向 Home Office 报告。拿到 CAS 之前先把课程结构核对一遍，比到了英国再补救省事。课程中途换班或延期也要先问清签证影响。
The Immigration Rules add a hard condition: a full-time pre-sessional course below degree level must involve at least 15 hours a week of classroom-based daytime study, timetabled between 08:00 and 18:00 from Monday to Friday. Sponsors therefore cannot deliver the course as unsupervised self-study in the evening. Attendance is monitored and reported, so a mid-course switch or extension should be checked against the visa first.
低于学位层级必须提交 SELT 成绩
签证英语要求分成两档。英国政府官网 gov.uk 的 Knowledge of English 页写明，学位层级及以上相当于 CEFR B2，低于学位层级是 B1。差别不只在分数，还在证明方式。学位课程的英语水平可以由大学自己评估并写进 CAS，语言班与预科属于低于学位层级，必须提交 Home Office 批准的安全英语考试 SELT 成绩。申请表里还要填 SELT 的唯一参考号。常见的错误是把普通雅思成绩单直接交上去，普通雅思不能用于低于学位层级的申请。Aberdeen 官网的分数表把 UKVI 雅思单列一栏，原因就在这里。
Proof of English splits into two levels on gov.uk: degree-level study requires CEFR B2, while courses below degree level require B1. The difference is not only the score, because universities may assess English themselves for degree courses and record that on the CAS, whereas foundation and pre-sessional applicants must pass a Home Office approved Secure English Language Test and quote its unique reference number. A standard IELTS certificate does not meet that requirement.
课程内容以学术写作与文献使用为主
语言班的课表不是把雅思题型再刷一遍。Sheffield 官网写明每周 15 小时导师课、一次一对一面谈，另有至少 5 小时指导式自主学习。Portsmouth 官网把周课时写成 25 小时，并说明班级规模控制在 20 人以内。NTU 官网的线上阶段每周 20.5 小时同步课程，班额上限 14 人。占时间最多的是学术写作、文献引用、讲座笔记与研讨发言。很多学生以为语言班只是轻松过一遍英语，第一周作业就要求写 1500 词论文。参考文献格式与引用规范通常在第一周就开始计入成绩。
Contact hours go into academic writing, referencing, lecture note-taking and seminar speaking rather than test drilling. Sheffield publishes 15 tutor-led hours plus a one-to-one tutorial and at least five hours of guided independent study each week; Portsmouth timetables 25 hours in classes capped at 20; and NTU runs 20.5 hours of live online sessions with a maximum of 14 students. Referencing conventions start carrying marks in the first week of term.

Fees are quoted per week rather than as one package. Sheffield lists 525 pounds a week for year-round campus courses, with a 10-week summer course at 5,500 pounds and a 6-week course at 3,300 pounds; Durham charges 11,800 pounds for its 20-week course; and Essex and Lancaster sit at 9,200 and 8,250 pounds respectively. Accommodation sits outside those figures, and living costs add 1,529 pounds a month in London or 1,171 pounds elsewhere.
长班次的截止日期比开课日期早几个月
二十周班的申请窗口在春天就关上，不是开课前都还能报名。Durham 官网给出的 20 周班截止是 2026 年 3 月 23 日，10 周班 6 月 8 日，6 周班 7 月 6 日。Essex 官网的 20 周班截止 2026 年 3 月 1 日，并要求 3 月 8 日前交押金。Lancaster 的 20 周班 4 月 27 日开课，往前留给申请与签证的时间很紧。很多学生以为拿到有条件录取再慢慢挑语言班也来得及，实际名额与签证两头都在挤。押金与学费缴纳期限也常常早于入学，逾期会被取消位置。
Long courses close months before teaching starts. Durham published 23 March 2026 as the deadline for its 20-week course, with 8 June for ten weeks and 6 July for six weeks, and Essex asks for applications by 1 March 2026 with a deposit by 8 March. Deposits and fee deadlines also arrive before enrolment, so a place can be lost to a late payment rather than a late application.
一张 CAS 覆盖两段课程还是两张
签证结构决定你要跑几次流程。英国政府官网 gov.uk 的 Appendix Student 允许把语言班与主课组合成 combined pre-sessional course，由同一张 CAS 覆盖两个阶段。分开处理时，语言班那张 CAS 只对应语言班这一段，签证一般在语言班结束时到期。Coventry 官网写明，语言班结业并达到 B2 之后可以在英国境内续签，条件是新的课程在签证到期日之后 28 天内开始。Southampton 官网也提醒，语言班单独 CAS 的学生要在境内走续签流程。这一步最容易踩空的地方就是 28 天窗口算错。窗口算错的后果是回国重新申请，时间与费用都要重来。
Whether you need one CAS or two shapes the whole process. The Immigration Rules allow a combined pre-sessional course, where a single CAS covers both the language stage and the main degree, and Coventry explains that a student who passes at B2 can extend in the UK provided the new course starts within 28 days of the current visa expiring. Getting that window wrong normally means applying again from outside the country.
资金证明要连续存满 28 天
生活费证明有固定的计算口径。英国政府官网 gov.uk 写明伦敦每月 1,529 英镑、伦敦外每月 1,171 英镑，最多按 9 个月计。这笔钱必须连续存满 28 天，而且 28 天期末要落在递交申请前的 31 天以内。中国在 differential evidence requirement 名单上，递交时不必附银行材料，但账户里仍要有这笔钱。常见的错误是只按主课那一年的预算准备，忘掉语言班期间的生活费也要覆盖。语言班学费同样要在 CAS 上体现，短期课程按实际学费计算。存款证明的时间点算错，往往要推迟整个学期。
Maintenance money follows a fixed formula: 1,529 pounds a month in London and 1,171 pounds a month elsewhere, capped at nine months on gov.uk. The funds must sit undisturbed for 28 consecutive days, with the end of that period no more than 31 days before the application date. China appears on the differential evidence list, so documents are not submitted up front, but the balance still has to be in place.
语言班成绩的适用范围有限
语言班结业成绩通常只对任教学校有效。Portsmouth 官网写明成绩只适用于该校，并允许把入学推迟最多两年。Westminster 官网写成功读完 10 周或 6 周班之后成绩保留一年。把语言班成绩拿去申请别的学校一般不被接受，因为考核标准由学校自己设定。另一条路是重考 UKVI 认可的考试，证书由考试机构出具，通用性更强。两种方式的时间成本不同，如果只申一所学校，语言班更省事。申请多所学校的学生，往往要保留一次可用的考试成绩。
Pre-sessional results are normally valid only at the university that taught them. Portsmouth states its results apply to that institution alone and allows entry to be deferred for up to two years, while Westminster keeps a pass valid for one year. Another route is a further UKVI-approved test, whose certificate other institutions can read.
预科一年的结构与升学条件
预科比语言班长，差别来自培养目标不同。英国政府的赞助方指南把预科定义成为了本科学习做准备的课程，涵盖大学预科课程、国际预科年与国际大一课程。跨 RQF 层级的项目叫 integrated programme，四年制预科年加学位课程就属于这一类。并非所有预科都含升学保证，有的只提供申请支持与成绩单。选课前要把升学规则、最低分数与是否保证位置写进确认邮件里。很多学生以为读了预科就自动进入本校学位课程，实际还要过一门内部考核。
Foundation courses run longer because they carry subject teaching. Sponsor guidance defines a foundation course as preparation for undergraduate study, covering university foundation courses, international foundation years and international year one, and an integrated programme spans more than one RQF level, such as a four-year route that pairs a foundation year with a degree and awards a single qualification. Not every foundation year guarantees progression, and internal assessment still has to be passed.
从年末到九月的时间安排
把关键节点排成一条线，规划会清楚很多。前一年的 12 月到 1 月定校并考出可用成绩，2 月到 3 月递交 20 周班申请。四五月是 15 周班的窗口，六月对应 10 周班，七月对应 6 周班。八月底结课出成绩，九月学位课程开学。语言班与主课之间的衔接期通常只有一两周。签证申请要留出决定时间，境外递交一般按 3 周估算。把语言班、签证与住宿三条线并排写在日历上，临时改计划的空间就大一些。
Lining the dates up makes the plan manageable. Decisions and a usable test score usually land between December and January, 20-week applications go in during February and March for an April start, and the 15, 10 and 6-week windows follow through May, June and July before results arrive at the end of August. Degree teaching begins in September, often only a week or two after the language course ends, so visa timing has to be planned in parallel.
