STEP 数学（Sixth Term Examination Paper）不是一门可以自由报名的考试，它由 OCR 出卷与管理，报考必须经过授权考点，考生本人无法直接在网上注册。中国大陆的考生只能在 British Council 的考点参加考试，这是 OCR 官网写明的规则。对申请剑桥大学数学类专业的同学来说，STEP 的成绩通常直接写在有条件录取里，报名窗口一旦关闭就没有补救办法。下面按报名、试卷结构、费用与出分几条线，把 2026 年 6 月考季的官方安排讲清楚。
STEP Mathematics is set and administered by OCR, and candidates cannot register themselves: an authorised test centre has to enter them. In mainland China the route is narrower still, because OCR states that candidates in China can only sit STEP at a British Council centre. For anyone applying for a maths course at Cambridge the result normally sits inside a conditional offer, which is why the registration window matters as much as the paper itself.
STEP 是什么：写在数学类录取条件里的一场考试
剑桥大学数学系官网写明，STEP 的考试由 OCR 出卷与实施，通常在 6 月中下旬举行。它不是资格考试，而是在拿到有条件录取之后才参加的附加考试，用来比较不同课程体系的申请人，包括 A-Level、IB 与国内课程的学生。剑桥把 STEP 放进条件里，是因为它能把不同背景的申请人放在同一把尺子上。很多学生以为拿到预录取就等于结束，实际排名靠前的数学类 offer 里往往带着 STEP 的两个等级要求。这门考试现在只有 STEP 2 与 STEP 3 两张卷，STEP 1 已经停考。
Cambridge's Faculty of Mathematics states plainly that STEP is set and administered by the OCR examination board, and it is usually taken in mid to late June. It is not a screening test: it is the examination that decides whether a conditional offer is met, and Cambridge uses it to compare applicants from every qualification route on one scale. Many applicants treat the offer as the finish line, yet the maths offers that carry STEP grades are the ones that still have to be cleared in June.
OCR 与剑桥：出卷方、停考的 STEP 1 与现行考纲

OCR, the examination board within the Cambridge group, produces and runs the papers. Cambridge's maths faculty records that STEP 1 was discontinued in 2020, leaving papers 2 and 3 in use. The OCR specification that applies from 2026 onwards confirms that STEP 1 has not been offered since the June 2021 sitting, and it also logs the two clarifications added in 2023 plus the interval-notation note added in 2025, details that older guides tend to miss.
哪些院校在录取里用 STEP：剑桥的条件与其他两所
剑桥官网写明，数学类的常规录取条件几乎都会附上 STEP 的成绩要求。英国文化教育协会的考后说明写得更具体：考生如果申请剑桥大学、华威大学或伦敦帝国理工学院，考试局会直接把成绩变化通知大学。这三所院校的数学类录取因此都会读取 STEP 的结果。2027 年入学还有一个变化，剑桥数学类申请人要先参加 TMUA，这项笔试在 2026 年 10 月举行，STEP 仍然留在录取条件里，两者是叠加关系。很多学生以为考了 TMUA 就不用考 STEP，这个判断在剑桥是错的。
Cambridge states that almost all of its conditional offers for Mathematics rest on STEP, and the British Council's post-exam notes add that where a candidate has applied to Cambridge, Warwick or Imperial College London, the board tells the university directly about any change in the result. For 2027 entry one addition has to be planned around: Cambridge maths applicants now also sit the TMUA in October 2026, while STEP stays in the offer, so the two tests stack rather than replace each other.
考生不能自己报名，只能由授权考点代为报名
OCR 的考点页面把规则写得很直白，想考 STEP 就必须先在授权考点注册，考生本人不能自行报名。学校如果已经是注册考点，学生通常通过本校的考试官报名；学校没有资质时，就要去找开放考点或者联系考试局协助安排。这里藏着时间上的隐患，考点可以在官方截止日之前自定一个更早的内部截止日。常见的错误是等到 4 月才开始问学校，本校的内部截止日却已经在 3 月过去了。这一步最容易在沟通上丢掉机会，越早和考试官确认越好。
OCR's find-a-centre page is blunt about the rule: to take STEP you must be registered at an authorised test centre, and as a candidate you cannot register yourself; if your school is already a centre the entry is normally made by its exams officer, while everyone else has to locate an open centre or ask the board for help. Centres may set their own earlier internal deadline, so an entry that looks safe in April can already have closed in March, which is why talking to the exams officer early matters.
中国考生只能通过 British Council 考点，13 个城市
中国内地的规则更窄。OCR 官网写明，中国考生只能在 British Council（英国文化教育协会）的考点参加 STEP。英国文化教育协会的中国页面写明，2026 年 6 月考季将在全国 13 个城市举行考试，由北京、上海、广州、重庆四个办公室分片负责。北京办公室覆盖北京、武汉、济南、青岛、西安与大连；上海办公室覆盖上海、杭州、南京与苏州；广州办公室覆盖广州与深圳；重庆办公室负责重庆本市。具体考点信息在考前一周通过邮件公布，考生不能自行挑选城市。
The rule in mainland China is tighter still: OCR states that candidates in China can only take STEP at a British Council centre, and the British Council's China pages say the June 2026 series runs in 13 cities through four regional offices. Beijing covers Beijing, Wuhan, Jinan, Qingdao, Xi'an and Dalian, Shanghai covers Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Suzhou, Guangzhou covers Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and Chongqing handles the city itself, with venue details arriving by email about a week before the papers and no choice of city for candidates.
2026 年 6 月考季的报名窗口：3 月开，4 月底关
OCR 官网的日期表写明，考点从 2026 年 3 月 1 日起可以报名，2026 年 5 月 4 日是报名截止日，逾期不收。英国文化教育协会的中国页面给的是另一个时间窗，报名从 2026 年 3 月 6 日 11:00（北京时间）开始，到 2026 年 4 月 30 日 16:00（北京时间）截止。两个日期都要看，本校考点的内部截止日可能比这两个都早。报名通过在线系统完成，官方建议使用 Chrome 或 Firefox 浏览器。多数学生不知道 STEP 完全没有补报名机制，截止之后只能等下一年。
OCR's key dates show centres entering candidates from 1 March 2026, with 4 May 2026 as the final date and no late entries accepted, while the British Council China page gives its own window: registration opened at 11:00 Beijing time on 6 March 2026 and closed at 16:00 on 30 April 2026. Both dates matter, because a school centre can close earlier than either, and because registration runs through an online system with no late-entry mechanism at all.
试卷结构：3 小时、12 题、只算最好的 6 题
剑桥数学系官网与 OCR 考纲写的是同一套结构，STEP 2 与 STEP 3 各为 3 小时，每卷 12 题，分成纯数学 8 题、力学 2 题、概率与统计 2 题。每题满分 20 分，评分时只看得分最高的 6 题，单卷满分因此是 120 分。选做策略变得重要，学生要在 12 题里挑出最有把握的 6 题做透。很多学生以为题目都要硬做，实际评分规则决定了做完 6 题比零散碰 10 题划算。阅卷时给分看的是过程完整性，答案对但推理跳步同样会丢分。
Cambridge and OCR describe the same format: each of STEP 2 and STEP 3 lasts three hours and contains 12 questions, eight in pure mathematics, two in mechanics and two in probability and statistics. Every question carries 20 marks and only a candidate's best six answers are counted, which caps a paper at 120 marks and makes the tactics matter, since six questions done properly beat ten half-finished attempts and marks go to the completeness of the working.

STEP reports five grades, from highest to lowest S, 1, 2, 3 and U, rather than a percentage score. A typical Cambridge maths offer asks for grade 1 in both papers, and some colleges set 1,1 or 2,2 depending on a candidate's background. Boundaries are fixed for the year and published on results day. Applicants often treat a grade 1 as an A* equivalent, yet the scales are not convertible; in practice a 1 needs about four clean solutions plus partial credit on the rest.

OCR sets the content boundary: STEP 2 assumes A-level Mathematics plus AS Further Mathematics, while STEP 3 assumes a typical Further Mathematics syllabus and takes STEP 2 material as given. The two papers are pitched at a similar difficulty, and what moves is the content, with STEP 3 drawing on more advanced methods. The same specification states that bilingual dictionaries are not permitted in STEP examinations, a point international candidates often overlook. Cambridge and NRICH run a free STEP Support Programme, and past papers with solutions are downloadable from the OCR site.

OCR lists the 2026 fees at GBP 102.50 per paper for UK centres and GBP 142.25 per paper outside the UK, also quoted as USD 179.75 or EUR 166. Centres may add their own administration charge for invigilation, rooms and despatch, so the final figure comes from the centre. British Council China quotes CNY 2,887.09 per paper, tax included, covering the board fee, administration, invigilation, venue hire and courier charges. One line on that page is easy to miss: if a paper falls on a mainland public holiday, the fee doubles.
考试日期与中国时区：6 月 4 日与 6 月 10 日
2026 年考季，STEP 2 安排在 6 月 4 日，STEP 3 安排在 6 月 10 日，两张卷分两天考。OCR 官网写明，英国考点在上午 9 点开考，海外考点按当地时间另行安排。英国文化教育协会的中国页面给出的是北京时间 16:00 至 19:00，考试形式为纸笔考试，不是机考。申请 2027 年入学的学生要留意时间线，剑桥数学类的申请人通常在前一年的 10 月考 TMUA，第二年 6 月才考 STEP。如果校内考试与 STEP 撞期，考点可以提交时间调整申请，OCR 给的期限是 STEP 2 在 2026 年 5 月 28 日之前、STEP 3 在 2026 年 6 月 3 日之前。
In the 2026 series STEP 2 is timetabled for 4 June and STEP 3 for 10 June, so the two papers sit on separate days. OCR notes that UK centres start at 9am while international centres set their own local time. British Council China lists 16:00 to 19:00 Beijing time and confirms the papers are written, not taken on screen. For 2027 entry the sequence is fixed: Cambridge maths applicants sit the TMUA in October and STEP the following June, and a clash with school examinations can be handled if the centre requests a timetable variation, for which OCR sets deadlines of 28 May 2026 for paper 2 and 3 June 2026 for paper 3.
考场规则：证件原件、提前 30 分钟、禁用电子设备
英国文化教育协会的考试日须知写得很细，考生必须带注册时使用的有效身份证件原件和考试确认信，中国大陆考生用二代身份证或护照，港澳考生用身份证、护照或港澳居民居住证。考生要提前至少 30 分钟到达考场，可以带一瓶撕掉标签的透明瓶装水。手机、任何电子设备与手表都不允许带进考场，试卷、答题本与草稿纸也不能带出。OCR 考纲另外写明，STEP 不允许使用双语词典，至于计算器与文具，要以 OCR 与考点的规定为准。考生自行携带的文具要符合考点公布的清单。
The British Council exam-day notes are detailed: candidates bring the original identity document used at registration plus the confirmation letter, with a second-generation ID card or passport accepted for mainland candidates. Arrive at least 30 minutes early, and a clear bottle of water with the label removed is permitted. Phones, other electronic devices and watches stay outside the hall, and no question paper, answer booklet or rough paper may leave the room. OCR adds that bilingual dictionaries are not allowed, while calculators and stationery follow the centre's published list.
UCAS ID、成绩有效期与成绩复议
报名时填的 UCAS ID 不是可有可无的信息。英国文化教育协会的常见问题写明，填错或者不填 UCAS ID，大学就无法把考试局发来的成绩与申请人对应上，这一步最容易在提交前被跳过。成绩的有效期也值得注意，STEP 成绩只在当年的大学申请季有效，明年再申请要重新报名重考。2026 年考季的成绩在 8 月 13 日上午 8 点（英国时间）向考生公布，考点在前一天拿到结果。对成绩有疑问可以申请成绩复议，截止日是 2026 年 8 月 20 日，官方提醒复议后分数可能上升也可能下降，STEP 不提供试卷查看，也不退还答卷。
The UCAS ID entered at registration is not optional. The British Council's FAQ explains that a missing or mistyped UCAS ID leaves the university unable to match the board's result to the application, and that step is easily skipped under deadline pressure. Results are also cycle-bound: a STEP grade is valid only for the admissions season in which it was taken, so reapplying means sitting the papers again. For the 2026 series candidates see their results at 08:00 UK time on 13 August 2026, a day after centres do, and results enquiries close on 20 August 2026; the board warns that a review can move a grade down as well as up, and no scripts are returned.
