The application date is the day you submit and pay online, not the day the decision arrives, and the holding period is counted back from the closing balance on your most recent evidence. GOV.UK's own example makes this concrete: an application on 1 January requires funds held for the 28-day period ending on 1 December. Applicants outside the UK may apply up to six months before the course starts, so a late-September start usually means having the money settled by early summer.

The requirement is the outstanding first-year course fee shown on the CAS plus a formula-based living cost figure, not the rent you actually signed up for. Visa fees and the Immigration Health Surcharge are paid separately and do not reduce the maintenance sum you must show. A common mistake is treating a pre-sessional English course as a short standalone course, which understates the number of months used when a combined CAS covers both stages.

The monthly figures are £1,529 in London and £1,171 elsewhere, counted for each month of the course up to nine months, with part months rounded up; London means the City of London and the 32 London boroughs, judged by study location rather than home address. That gives nine-month ceilings of £13,761 and £10,539 before outstanding fees are added. HC 584, laid in September 2026, raises these figures to £1,570 and £1,203 for applications submitted on or after 30 November 2026, while earlier applications are decided under the rules in force on 29 November 2026.

The first detail is continuity, since a single day below the required level breaks the evidence. The second is coverage, because Appendix Finance requires evidence covering the whole holding period rather than one closing statement. The third is the start point, which the closing balance date fixes; money transferred too late leaves a statement window that is simply too short.
31 天时效 材料不能太旧
除了 28 天持有，还有一道 31 天时效：最近一次资金材料的出具日期必须在申请日之前 31 天以内。两条规则叠在一起，等于材料既要有历史厚度，又要有时间新鲜度。很多家庭在 6 月就开好存款证明，8 月才递交，材料已经过期。常见的错误是把存款证明当成长期有效的通行证，其实它只是一张带保鲜期的账户快照。稳妥的做法是在确定递交日之后再去开证明，让出具日期落在那个 31 天窗口里。
The 31-day rule requires the most recently dated evidence to be issued within 31 days before the application, and it sits alongside the holding period rather than replacing it. The evidence therefore needs both depth and freshness, so a certificate of deposit opened two months early is simply out of date. Families often treat a bank certificate as permanently valid, when it is really a dated snapshot of the account.
钱可以放在谁的名下
资金可以在学生本人名下，也可以在父母或配偶名下，但账户必须由出资人本人控制，并且能随时取用现金。用父母账户时还要附上两样东西，一样是关系证明，另一样是父母同意把这笔钱用于读书的书面说明。关系证明可以是出生证明、户口本或法院出具的文件，中文材料通常需要附认证翻译。学生常把父母的理财账户当成普通储蓄账户来用，账户类型不对，余额再高也不算数。
The funds may sit in the student's own account or in a parent's or partner's account, though the account must be controlled by that person and allow immediate access. Where a parent's account is used, proof of the relationship and written consent to use the money are both required, typically a birth certificate, household register or court document with certified translation. Accounts that are not ordinary personal bank or building society accounts are the usual failure point, whatever the balance.
已缴学费与住宿押金能抵扣多少
已经交给学校的学费，只要在 CAS 上有记录或者有学校出具的收据，就可以从未付学费里扣掉。住宿方面只有一种情况能抵扣，就是付给学生担保方、并且由担保方安排的住宿押金，抵扣上限是 1529 英镑，2026 年 11 月 30 日起的上限提高到 1570 英镑。付给私人房东或第三方学生公寓的钱不适用这条。很多学生以为交了 5000 英镑住宿费就能少准备 5000 英镑，实际上抵扣是封顶的，超出部分不会让要求继续下降。
Tuition already paid to the sponsor reduces the outstanding fee figure once it appears on the CAS or on an official receipt. On the accommodation side, only a deposit paid to the sponsor for sponsor-arranged accommodation can be offset, and the cap is £1,529, rising to £1,570 for applications from 30 November 2026. Payments to private landlords or third-party student housing do not qualify, so the offset is never a pound-for-pound deduction.

GOV.UK excludes overdraft facilities, cryptocurrency, stocks and shares, pensions, and accounts that are not regulated or do not keep electronic records. High market value does not help when the money is not cash in an eligible account, because caseworkers only count balances that can be accessed immediately. Where funds sit in a wealth product, they need to be redeemed into a deposit account first, which restarts the holding period.

Acceptable evidence includes bank statements in paper or electronic form, building society passbooks, certificates of deposit and letters from the bank. Each document needs the account holder's name, the bank's name and the balance, and a bank letter should also state the lowest balance over the 28 days. Chinese-language documents need certified translation, foreign currency is converted at the spot rate on the date of application, and electronic statements are usually expected to carry the bank's stamp.
中国护照在低风险名单上的实际口径
中国在英国内政部的低风险国家名单内，符合条件的申请人在递交时通常不需要主动上传资金材料，但资金要求本身仍然成立，签证官在审理过程中随时可以要求补交。这条规则容易被读成不用准备钱，一旦被要求补材料而账户不符合 28 天与 31 天的规则，拒签风险反而更大。稳妥的做法是把资金和材料按需要提交的标准准备好，只是不主动上传，同时把材料留到出签之后再动用。需要提醒的是，豁免只针对提交方式，不改变资金的金额与持有时间要求。
China is on the Home Office list of nationalities that do not have to submit financial evidence upfront, but the requirement itself still applies and a decision maker can request the documents during processing. Reading this as no funds needed is risky, because a request for evidence arriving after the holding window has lapsed can still lead to refusal. The safe approach is to prepare the money and the paperwork as if it had to be uploaded, keep the funds in place until the decision arrives, and simply hold the documents back.

After the offer arrives, the deposit and fee arrangements come first because the CAS usually follows confirmation of your place. Some master's courses in sensitive technology fields also need an ATAS certificate, which is valid for six months from issue when used for a visa application, so the application needs a time buffer. Chinese applicants also need a TB test whose certificate runs for six months from the x-ray date; applications from outside the UK can be submitted up to six months before the course starts and are usually decided within three weeks, with paid priority services available.
