The full IAL October series opens on 8 October 2026 and closes on 30 October, covering four exam weeks. Every day from 12 to 16 October runs one morning and one afternoon paper with roughly two hours between them. A 1 hour 30 minute morning paper finishes at 10.30am and leaves a three-hour gap, while a 2 hour paper pushes the finish to 11am and shortens lunch; Monday stacks Economics and Biology into 3 hours 15 minutes of writing, and Thursday asks for 3 hours across Pure Mathematics 2 and Physics Unit 2. Spending the whole break checking answers is a poor trade, because the afternoon paper deserves a fresh head far more than the morning paper deserves a post-mortem.

Mathematics appears twice in this window, with Pure Mathematics 2 on Thursday morning and Mechanics M1 on Tuesday afternoon, while Pure Mathematics 1 was already sat on the morning of Friday 9 October. Four more mathematics papers follow in the later weeks: Statistics S1 on 19 October, Pure Mathematics 3 on 21 October, Mechanics M2 on 22 October, Pure Mathematics 4 on 28 October, and Statistics S2 on 26 October. Candidates entered for all four pure papers therefore sit them across four separate mornings and afternoons, which makes the gap between 15 and 21 October part of the mathematics revision plan rather than free time.

Chemistry Unit 1 was sat on the afternoon of Friday 9 October, while Chemistry Unit 2 falls on the morning of Tuesday 13 October, and Physics runs the other way round, with Unit 1 on Thursday 8 October and Unit 2 exactly one week later on Thursday 15 October. Practical skills papers are held back until the final fortnight, with Chemistry Unit 3 on 20 October, Chemistry Unit 4 on 22 October, Physics Unit 3 on 19 October and Physics Unit 4 on 21 October. Treating mid-October as a light week is a misreading, since Chemistry Unit 2 and Physics Unit 2 carry the same weight towards the final grade as the later units do.

Economics holds both of its papers in morning sessions this week, Unit 1 on 12 October and Unit 2 on 16 October, each lasting 1 hour 45 minutes. Business Unit 1 was already sat on the morning of 8 October, so the week brings only Business Unit 2 on the morning of 14 October, a two-hour paper that is the longest single session of the five days. 迟到与一小时红线：JCQ 的官方规则
JCQ 的考生须知写得很直白：提前十分钟到场，迟到就向监考报告，超过公开开考时间一小时可能不被允许参加考试。考试局另有一份很晚到场的表格，考点要通过中心管理门户提交，把实际开考与收卷时间、考生进场时间都写清楚。时长超过一小时的卷子，如果考生在公开开考后一小时内到场，考点不需要填这份表。超过一小时就算很晚到场，考点仍可自行决定是否让考生进场，但要提醒考生考试局可能不接受这份答卷。一旦获准进场，考生必须拿到整场时间，不会因为迟到而扣掉作答时间。很多学生以为迟到只是少写几分钟，实际风险在于答卷可能被判无效，这一条比丢分更严重。把出门时间按考试日早高峰倒推，比考前一夜再看一遍笔记更值得花十分钟。
JCQ's candidate information is blunt: arrive at least ten minutes before the start, report to the invigilator if you are late, and you may not be allowed to sit the exam if you arrive more than one hour after the published starting time. For papers longer than an hour, centres only need to submit the Very Late Arrival form once a candidate arrives more than an hour late, and even then the centre may admit them while warning that the awarding body might not accept the script. A late candidate who is admitted still receives the full examination time, so the real risk is not a few lost minutes but a script that is never marked.

Week three runs from 19 to 23 October and week four from 26 to 30 October, and the later fortnight carries far more sessions than the five days covered here. Statistics S1 and Physics Unit 3 open week three, with Business Unit 3, Chemistry Unit 3, Physics Unit 4, Pure Mathematics 3, Mechanics M2, Chemistry Unit 4, Biology Unit 4 and Economics Unit 3 spread across the remaining days. Week four closes the series with Statistics S2, Chemistry Units 5 and 6, Biology Units 5 and 6, Business Unit 4, Physics Units 5 and 6, Pure Mathematics 4, and two three-hour Accounting papers taken in the afternoon.
成绩与关键日期：一律以 Pearson 官网为准

Results for the October series are released in the following January, with the exact date, the method of release and certification arrangements listed on the Pearson website. Special consideration requests and access arrangements both sit on fixed deadlines and must be submitted through the exam board's systems at the entry stage, not in the last week before a paper. Always check the final version of the timetable on the exam board website rather than a copy printed at the start of term, because published starting times do get updated.
