AQA GCSE英语 阅读理解 语言分析 答题技巧

很多同学在 AQA GCSE English Language 阅读部分拿不到高分,不是因为读不懂文章,而是因为没有读懂题目。Paper 1 Section A 的四个问题考的是四种完全不同的能力:信息检索、语言分析、结构分析、文本评价。如果把四个问题都用同一套"找句子、抄句子、加一句感受"的写法,分数上限大约只有一半。

Many students lose marks in the AQA GCSE English Language reading section not because they cannot understand the text, but because they do not understand what the question is actually testing. The four questions in Paper 1 Section A test four completely different skills: information retrieval, language analysis, structure analysis and critical evaluation. Applying the same "find a quote, copy it, add a feeling" method to all four questions caps your mark at roughly half.

这篇文章按题目顺序拆解 AQA 阅读部分的给分逻辑,给出每一种题型的回答框架、可用句式和高频失分点,适合 Year 10 到 Year 11 复习阶段逐条对照使用。

This guide breaks the AQA reading paper down question by question: what the examiner is rewarding, a usable response framework, sentence patterns you can adapt, and the habits that silently cost marks. It is written for Year 10 and Year 11 students in the revision phase.

一、先弄清结构:Paper 1 与 Paper 2 阅读部分各考什么

Paper 1 叫 Explorations in Creative Reading and Writing,考试时长 1 小时 45 分钟,总分 80 分。Section A 是阅读,占总分 40 分,全部围绕同一篇 20 世纪的小说节选。Section B 是写作,另外 40 分。Paper 2 叫 Writers' Viewpoints and Perspectives,同样 1 小时 45 分钟、80 分,Section A 阅读由两篇文章组成,一篇 19 世纪、一篇 20 世纪或 21 世纪,考的是非虚构文本。

Paper 1 is called Explorations in Creative Reading and Writing. It lasts 1 hour 45 minutes and is worth 80 marks. Section A is the reading section, worth 40 marks, and all four questions relate to the same 20th century fiction extract. Section B is the writing task and carries the other 40 marks. Paper 2 is called Writers' Viewpoints and Perspectives, the same length and the same total, but Section A gives you two non-fiction texts, one from the 19th century and one from the 20th or 21st century.

两张卷子的阅读题型数量一样,但分值分布不同。Paper 1 是 4 分、8 分、8 分、20 分;Paper 2 是 4 分、8 分、12 分、16 分。这意味着 Paper 1 的第四题单独占阅读分数的 50%,而 Paper 2 更平均地分散在概括、语言和比较上。先看清分值,再决定每题花多少时间,这是最容易被忽略的第一步。

The number of questions is the same on both papers, but the mark distribution is not. Paper 1 runs 4, 8, 8 and 20 marks; Paper 2 runs 4, 8, 12 and 16. This means the final question of Paper 1 alone is half of the reading marks, while Paper 2 spreads its marks more evenly across summary, language and comparison. Reading the mark allocation before you start writing, and budgeting time accordingly, is the step most students skip.

二、第一题:4 分的检索题不要写成 20 分

第一题通常是"列出四件关于某事物的信息"或者"判断四句话是真是假"。评分标准只有一条:找到与题目聚焦点相关的信息。写满四行、每行一句简短引用就能拿满分,写成长段落不会加分。技巧是先圈出题目里的聚焦范围,例如"about the weather"或"about the boy's feelings",然后只在文章对应区域找答案,避免把无关信息写进去。

Question 1 usually asks you to list four things about something, or to decide whether four statements are true or false. The mark scheme has one single requirement: find information that is relevant to the stated focus. Four short lines, one piece of accurate information each, earns full marks. Writing long paragraphs adds nothing. Highlight the focus in the question first, for example "about the weather" or "about the boy's feelings", then read only that part of the text so you do not waste time and space on irrelevant material.

最常见的失分是把两句话写成同一个信息。例如"the wind was howling"和"the storm was loud"表达的是同一件事,只能算一条。另一个常见问题是直接抄写整句而不加删减,把包含多个信息的句子当作一条。答案要短、要准、要各不重复。

The most common error is writing two lines that say the same thing. "The wind was howling" and "the storm was loud" describe one piece of information, so they count once. Another frequent problem is copying a whole sentence that contains several pieces of information and counting it as one answer. Keep each point short, accurate and genuinely different from the others.

三、第二题:语言分析题,从"指出手法"升级到"写出效果"

第二题给 8 分,评分结构是三层:AO2 要求你解释语言和结构如何产生效果,加上 Subject Terminology 的使用。落分区间通常是"你指出了比喻,但没有解释这个比喻在做什么"。完整的回答链条应该是:引用原词或短语,命名手法,解释这个选择的字面含义,然后说明它让读者产生什么画面、情绪或态度。

Question 2 is worth 8 marks. The mark scheme has a clear hierarchy: AO2 asks you to explain how language and structure create effects, with credit for subject terminology. The mid band is where students name a technique but never explain what the technique is doing. A complete chain looks like this: quote a word or phrase, name the technique, explain what that choice literally means, then explain the image, feeling or attitude it creates for the reader.

举一个可以套用的句式:"The writer's use of [technique] in '[quote]' suggests ..., which makes the reader feel ..., because ..."注意最后那个 because 必须落到具体的词上,例如动词的力度、形容词的温度、句子的节奏,而不是笼统地说"它让文章更有趣"。另外要选有分析价值的词,选一个动词或名词通常比选一整句话得分更高,因为精确的引用才能带出精确的分析。

A sentence pattern you can adapt is: "The writer's use of [technique] in '[quote]' suggests ..., which makes the reader feel ..., because ...". The final "because" must land on a specific word: the force of a verb, the temperature of an adjective, the pace of a sentence, rather than a vague claim that it makes the writing more interesting. Choose words with analytical value. A single verb or noun quoted precisely will usually score higher than a whole sentence, because precise quotation allows precise analysis.

四、第三题:结构分析题,问的是"为什么这样安排"

结构题是失分最集中的地方,因为大多数学生只会描述内容变化,不会分析结构手法。结构分析关注的是文章如何被组织:开头设置什么、焦点如何转换、视角从哪里移到哪里、什么时候拉近放大(zoom in)、什么时候拉远(zoom out)、结尾是否回到开头形成环形结构(cyclical structure)、段落长度和句子长度如何变化。

Structure analysis loses more marks than any other question, because most students describe what happens rather than how the text is organised. Structure is about arrangement: what the opening sets up, where the focus shifts, how the perspective moves, when the writer zooms in on detail and when they pull back, whether the ending returns to the opening to create a cyclical structure, and how paragraph and sentence lengths change over the extract.

答题时要明确"结构点 + 效果"两步。比如:"The opening sentence introduces the character as small and quiet before the writer widens the view of the room, which establishes his insignificance before the conflict begins."这里第一个分句是结构点,第二个分句是效果。用 first, then, as the extract develops, by the end 这类连接词能让结构轨迹清晰可见,考官一眼就能看到你在分析结构而不是复述情节。

Always answer in two steps: the structural point, then the effect. For example: "The opening sentence introduces the character as small and quiet before the writer widens the view of the room, which establishes his insignificance before the conflict begins." The first clause names the structural move, the second explains its effect. Using connectives such as first, then, as the extract develops and by the end makes the structural journey visible, so the examiner can see you are analysing structure rather than retelling the plot.

五、第四题:20 分的评价题怎么组织论点

第四题是整张卷子的重心。题目会给出一个关于文章的陈述,要求你在什么程度上同意。它同时考 AO4 的评价能力和 AO2 的语言分析能力,所以只写"我同意,因为作者写得很好"一定拿不到高分。有效的结构是:先明确你的立场(同意或多半同意),再给出至少两个独立论点,每个论点都用引用支撑并解释效果,最后回到陈述本身做一次收束。

Question 4 is the centrepiece of the paper. It gives you a statement about the text and asks how far you agree. It assesses evaluation and language analysis together, so writing "I agree because the writer writes well" will not reach the upper bands. An effective structure is: state your position clearly, offer at least two developed arguments, support each with a quotation and an explanation of effect, then return to the statement itself to close the response.

高分回答通常还有一个特征:它会讨论"读者反应"。也就是说,不只是说作者用了什么手法,而是说明这个手法如何操控读者的注意力、同情或不安感。句式上可以用:"This is particularly effective because the writer positions the reader to ..."以及"This supports the statement to a large extent, although ...",后半句的让步会让评价显得有判断力,而不是单方面宣告。

High-scoring answers tend to do one further thing: they discuss reader response. That means explaining not only which technique is used but how it manipulates the reader's attention, sympathy or unease. Useful sentence patterns include "This is particularly effective because the writer positions the reader to ..." and "This supports the statement to a large extent, although ...". The concession in the second half makes the evaluation look like judgement rather than an unsupported declaration.

六、Paper 2 的概括题与比较题

Paper 2 的阅读逻辑与 Paper 1 不同。第一题判断四句话的真假,考的是细节准确性,不需要写解释。第二题要求用 8 分写一小段概括,比较两篇文章对同一话题的做法或态度,给分关键是你是否同时引用两篇文章:只谈一篇,分数上限就是一半。写的时候要把两篇并列起来,用 both、whereas、in contrast 这类词把相同点和不同点显性标出来。

Paper 2 works differently. Question 1 asks you to decide whether four statements are true or false, which tests accurate reading of detail and needs no explanation. Question 2 asks for a short summary worth 8 marks, comparing what the two texts say or how they treat the same topic. The decisive factor is whether you refer to both texts: writing about only one caps your mark at half. Place the two texts side by side in every sentence, using words such as both, whereas and in contrast to make the similarities and differences explicit.

第三题与第四题都是语言分析,但第四题要求你比较两位作者的态度,也就是不仅要分析手法,还要判断作者对同一事物的立场是赞赏、担忧还是讽刺。比较题最容易失分的地方是抄了引用却没有比较,两段分析各自独立却互不相关。有效的做法是每一段都让两位作者对话:作者 A 用 XX 表达敬畏,而作者 B 用 YY 表达轻蔑,这种对照本身就构成对比分析。

Questions 3 and 4 are both language analysis, but Question 4 asks you to compare the writers' attitudes. That means analysing technique and then judging whether each writer treats the same subject with admiration, anxiety or irony. The usual failure in comparison questions is quoting without comparing, producing two separate analyses that never meet. A better approach is to make the two writers answer each other inside each paragraph: writer A conveys awe through one image, while writer B conveys contempt through another. That juxtaposition is the comparison.

七、时间分配与高频失分点

Paper 1 的 1 小时 45 分钟建议这样切分:前 10 到 15 分钟只读文章并标注语言和结构的转折点,Section A 四个问题合计 45 分钟,Section B 写作 45 分钟,最后留 5 分钟检查拼写和引用是否准确。第四题要预留 20 到 25 分钟,因为它占有阅读部分一半的分数,临时写五分钟不可能写出两个展开的论点。

For Paper 1, split the 1 hour 45 minutes deliberately: use the first 10 to 15 minutes to read the extract and annotate where the language and the structure shift, allow 45 minutes for the four Section A questions, 45 minutes for Section B, and keep 5 minutes to check spelling and the accuracy of your quotations. Reserve 20 to 25 minutes for Question 4, because it carries half of the reading marks and cannot be written properly in the last five minutes.

三个最高频的失分点是:第一,引用不准确,改写过的引文不能算作引用;第二,只堆术语不解释效果,把 metaphor、personification 当成终点;第三,忽略题目里的关键限定词,比如 how far、to what extent,导致回答没有回应真正的任务。每次模考后把这三条对照一遍,比多刷两套卷子更有效。

Three habits cost the most marks. First, inaccurate quotation: a paraphrase is not a quotation. Second, listing terminology without explaining effect, treating the name of a technique as the destination. Third, ignoring the limiting words in the question, such as how far or to what extent, so the answer never actually addresses the task. Checking these three points after every mock paper will improve your mark faster than completing two extra practice papers.

八、低分答案与高分答案的差别在哪

把两段回答放在一起比较容易看清差距。题目问语言效果,低分答案通常写成:"The writer uses a metaphor. This makes it interesting and creates a good image."这里指出了手法,但 interesting 和 good image 都是空话,没有落到具体的词上,也没有说明读者感到什么。这样的句子在 8 分的题目里通常只能进 1 到 2 分档。

Placing two answers side by side makes the difference clear. Asked about the effect of language, a low-band answer reads: "The writer uses a metaphor. This makes it interesting and creates a good image." The technique is named, but interesting and good image are empty, unconnected to a specific word, and silent about what the reader actually feels. In an 8 mark question that response usually sits in the lowest band.

高分答案会写:"The writer describes the fire as 'devouring' the building, a verb usually reserved for eating. This dehumanises the scene, presenting the fire as a hungry animal, so the reader feels that the damage is deliberate and unstoppable rather than accidental."引用的词精确,术语自然嵌入,效果分两层:一层是画面(动物意象),一层是读者感受(不可阻挡)。段落长度几乎一样,分数差距却是四倍以上。

A high-band answer reads: "The writer describes the fire as 'devouring' the building, a verb usually reserved for eating. This dehumanises the scene, presenting the fire as a hungry animal, so the reader feels that the damage is deliberate and unstoppable rather than accidental." The quotation is precise, the terminology is woven in rather than listed, and the effect works on two levels: the image of a hungry animal, then the reader's sense that the destruction cannot be stopped. The two answers are almost the same length; the mark gap is more than fourfold.

结论很直接:阅读题的分数不来自写得多,而来自写得准。先判断题目在考哪种能力,再选择对应的分析层次,最后用精确的引用把观点钉住。把这三步练成习惯,Paper 1 的第四题和 Paper 2 的比较题都会有明显提升。

The conclusion is simple: marks in the reading paper come from precision, not volume. Identify which skill the question is testing, choose the matching level of analysis, then anchor your point with an exact quotation. Once those three steps become a habit, both Question 4 on Paper 1 and the comparison question on Paper 2 will improve noticeably.
