2. What Exactly Is UKiset? | UKiset 到底是什么
UKiset stands for the United Kingdom Independent Schools' Entry Test. It is a standardised assessment for international applicants, normally taken by candidates aged 9.5 to 18, and it was developed for British independent schools by Gabbitas (now part of Dukes Education) together with Cambridge English.

UKiset is most commonly required for international students applying to British independent boarding and day schools, especially for entry into Years 9 to 12, and at some schools for Years 5 to 8 as well. It is also used when a school wants an early, objective picture of a candidate's English before inviting the family to visit or to sit the school's own papers.

4. Test Structure: Four Components | 考试结构：四个部分
The test has three reasoning sections and one English section. The whole sitting takes roughly one hour and forty-five minutes, with the reasoning battery accounting for about an hour and the Cambridge English section for about forty-five minutes.

Note that the English section is a Cambridge English test, not a school syllabus test, so preparation through general reading and listening helps more than memorising grammar rules alone.

5. How the Scoring Works | 评分体系如何运作
The three reasoning sections are reported as Standard Age Scores, or SAS, with an average of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. This means a score of 100 is exactly average for a pupil of that age, and the further above 100, the further above the national average.

The same scores are also expressed as stanines from 1 to 9, where 5 is average. Roughly two per cent of a national cohort falls in stanine 9 and about four per cent in stanine 8, which is why a stanine 7 or above is often treated as a strong result by selective schools.

The English section is instead reported against the Common European Framework of Reference, from pre-A1 up to C1 or C2, and many schools look for B2 or above for mainstream academic entry.

UKiset is taken online at an approved test centre or in another properly invigilated setting, and it is available throughout the year in many countries, including several cities in China. Because places are limited at each centre, families usually book two to three months in advance.

7. How Schools Actually Use the Report | 学校到底如何使用这份报告
UKiset is a screening and evidence tool, not an offer machine. For many schools it serves as a first filter: a candidate whose reasoning scores and English level fall within the school's expected range is then invited to the school's own entrance papers, an interview, or both.
UKiset 是筛选与佐证工具，而不是"发 offer 的机器"。对很多学校来说，它扮演第一道筛子的角色：推理分数与英语水平落在学校预期区间内的申请者，才会被邀请参加本校自命题考试、面试，或者两者都要。
Different schools set very different bars. A highly selective boarding school may look for an overall stanine of 7 or above plus English at B2 or C1, while a school with a strong EAL department may accept a lower English score and offer language support. The report also helps schools decide whether a pupil needs additional English tuition, and whether the family's preferred entry year is realistic.
