📚 Common Mistakes and Corrections in IGCSE CAIE Spanish | IGCSE CAIE 西班牙语:常见误区与纠正方法
Many students preparing for the IGCSE CAIE Spanish examination lose marks not because they do not know enough vocabulary, but because they repeat a small set of predictable errors. These errors usually come from transferring English word order, confusing similar grammatical structures, ignoring accent marks, or choosing the wrong past tense. This article identifies the most common mistakes and gives practical corrections that are directly relevant to the reading, writing, listening and speaking papers.
许多准备 IGCSE CAIE 西班牙语考试的学生丢分,并不是因为词汇量不够,而是因为反复出现一小类可预测的错误。这些错误通常来自照搬英语语序、混淆相似语法结构、忽略重音符号,或者选错过去时。本文列出最常见的误区,并给出与阅读、写作、听力和口语试卷直接相关的纠正方法。
1. Ser vs Estar: Choosing the Right 'To Be' | Ser 与 Estar:选对“是”
The verbs 'ser' and 'estar' both translate as 'to be', but they are not interchangeable. 'Ser' is used for identity, origin, time, possession and permanent characteristics. 'Estar' is used for location, temporary conditions, moods and the present progressive.
动词 ser 和 estar 都可以翻译为“是”,但不能互换。ser 用于身份、来源、时间、所属关系和永久特征;estar 用于位置、暂时状态、情绪以及进行时。
A classic error is saying "Soy cansado" to mean "I am tired." The correct sentence is "Estoy cansado," because tiredness is a temporary state. If you say "Soy cansado," you are saying that you are a tiring person by nature. Likewise, avoid "Estoy estudiante" - the correct form is "Soy estudiante," because being a student is an identity, not a temporary location or condition.
一个经典错误是把“我很累”说成 "Soy cansado"。正确句子是 "Estoy cansado",因为疲劳是一种暂时状态。如果说 "Soy cansado",意思就变成“我天生是个让人累的人”。同样要避免 "Estoy estudiante",正确形式是 "Soy estudiante",因为学生是一种身份,不是暂时地点或状态。
- Ser + permanent: Soy chino. / Es profesora. — 用 ser 表示永久特征与身份。
- Estar + temporary: Estoy enfermo. / Está cerrado. — 用 estar 表示暂时状况。
- Estar + location: Madrid está en España. — 位置一律用 estar,即使是永久位置。
For the CAIE writing paper, check every 'to be' verb. Ask: is this a permanent feature or a temporary condition? If the sentence includes 'today', 'now', 'at the moment', or a location, 'estar' is usually the safe choice.
在 CAIE 写作试卷中,检查每一个“是”动词。自问:这是永久特征还是暂时状态?如果句子包含“今天”“现在”“此刻”或地点,通常选择 estar 更稳妥。
2. Por vs Para: Purpose, Cause and Destination | Por 与 Para:目的、原因与去向
Both 'por' and 'para' can be translated as 'for', but they express different relationships. 'Por' is used for cause, exchange, duration, means, movement through a place, and the agent in a passive sentence. 'Para' is used for purpose, destination, deadline, recipient and personal opinion.
por 和 para 都可以翻译成“为了/因为”,但它们表达的关系不同。por 用于原因、交换、时长、方式、穿过某地以及被动句中的施动者;para 用于目的、目的地、截止时间、接收对象和个人观点。
A frequent error is writing "Gracias para tu ayuda" instead of "Gracias por tu ayuda," because 'por' expresses the cause of the thanks. Another is "Este regalo es por ti" when you mean "this gift is for you" - that must be "Este regalo es para ti," because 'para' marks the recipient.
In exam writing, if you can replace the word with 'in order to', 'for the purpose of' or 'by Monday', choose 'para'. If you can replace it with 'because of', 'through' or 'for a period of', choose 'por'.
在考试写作中,如果能替换成“为了”“目的在于”或“到周一为止”,就选 para;如果能替换成“因为”“穿过”或“持续一段时间”,就选 por。
3. Gender, Articles and Noun Endings | 名词性别、冠词与词尾规律
English speakers often guess the gender of a Spanish noun. Guessing correctly most of the time is possible if you learn the reliable patterns instead of memorising every word separately.
英语母语者常常靠猜来判断西班牙语名词的性别。其实只要记住可靠的规律,大部分情况都能猜对,不必逐词死记。
- Feminine endings: -dad, -tad, -ción, -sión, -umbre, -ie, -triz. — 以 -dad、-tad、-ción、-sión、-umbre、-ie、-triz 结尾多为阴性:la libertad, la canción, la serie。
- Masculine endings: -o, -or, -aje, -ma (Greek origin). — 以 -o、-or、-aje 及希腊词 -ma 结尾多为阳性:el problema, el tema, el sistema, el idioma。
- Exceptions to memorise: el día, el mapa, la mano, la moto, el agua. — 需要单独记住的例外。
Watch the stressed 'a' rule: feminine nouns beginning with a stressed 'a' take 'el' in the singular but remain feminine, so we say "el agua fría" and "las aguas frías". Never write "la problema" or "el problemaa".
注意重读 a 的规则:以重读 a 开头的阴性名词,单数用 el,但词性仍是阴性,因此说 "el agua fría"(冷水)和 "las aguas frías"。千万不要写 "la problema",也不要把词尾拼错。
Accidental gender errors also affect adjectives, so a single wrong article can trigger two or three more mistakes in the same sentence. When you learn a new noun, learn it with its article: not "problema" but "el problema".
冠词性别错误还会连带影响形容词,一个错误的冠词可能在同一句里引发两三个错误。所以背新单词时要连冠词一起背:不是记 "problema",而是记 "el problema"。
4. Adjective Agreement and Word Order | 形容词性数一致与位置
In Spanish, adjectives normally follow the noun and agree with it in gender and number. English word order such as "a red car" cannot be copied directly as "un rojo coche". The correct phrase is "un coche rojo", and the plural is "unos coches rojos".
在西班牙语中,形容词通常放在名词之后,并与名词保持性和数的一致。英语的 "a red car" 不能直接照搬成 "un rojo coche",正确说法是 "un coche rojo",复数是 "unos coches rojos"。
- Four forms: alto, alta, altos, altas. — 多数形容词有四种形式。
- Two forms: grande, grandes; fácil, fáciles. — 部分形容词只有单复数两种形式。
- Invariable: una chica inteligente, chicos inteligentes. — 以 -e 或辅音结尾的部分形容词不分阴阳性。
Some adjectives shorten before a masculine singular noun: "bueno" becomes "buen" (buen viaje), "malo" becomes "mal" (mal tiempo), "primero" becomes "primer" (el primer día), and "grande" becomes "gran" with a change of meaning (un gran hombre = a great man, un hombre grande = a big man).
有些形容词在阳性单数名词前要短尾:bueno 变 buen(buen viaje 一路顺风),malo 变 mal(mal tiempo 坏天气),primero 变 primer(el primer día 第一天),grande 变 gran 且意思改变(un gran hombre 伟人,un hombre grande 高大的人)。
Remember that adjectives describing quantity or number, such as "muchos", "pocos", "otros" and "todos", usually go before the noun: "muchos estudiantes", "otros libros".
注意表示数量或顺序的形容词,如 muchos、pocos、otros、todos,通常放在名词前:muchos estudiantes(许多学生)、otros libros(别的书)。
5. False Friends and Anglicisms | 假朋友与英语化表达
False friends are words that look like English words but mean something different. They are dangerous in reading papers because they create confident but wrong answers, and in writing papers because they produce sentences that a Spanish examiner finds confusing.
假朋友是那些看起来像英语、意思却不同的词。它们在阅读卷中很危险,会让学生“自信地答错”;在写作卷中也很危险,因为会写出让考官看不懂的句子。
| Spanish word | Wrong meaning | Correct meaning |
| embarazada | embarrassed 尴尬的 | pregnant 怀孕的 |
| actual | actual 实际的 | current, present 当前的 |
| realizar | to realise 意识到 | to carry out 执行 |
| librería | library 图书馆 | bookshop 书店 |
| éxito | exit 出口 | success 成功 |
| sensible | sensible 明智的 | sensitive 敏感的 |
Anglicisms produce another family of errors. Age uses 'tener', not 'ser': "Tengo dieciséis años", never "Soy dieciséis años". Weather uses 'hacer': "Hace frío", not "Es frío". And Spanish does not need a possessive with parts of the body: "Me lavo las manos", not "Me lavo mis manos".
英语化表达会带来另一类错误。年龄用 tener 而非 ser:正确是 "Tengo dieciséis años",不能写 "Soy dieciséis años"。天气用 hacer:"Hace frío",不是 "Es frío"。身体部位前不用物主形容词:"Me lavo las manos"(我洗手),而不是 "Me lavo mis manos"。
6. Accent Marks, Tildes and Punctuation | 重音符号与标点
Accents are not decoration. They change meaning, and in CAIE writing papers missing accents are counted as errors. Learn the three basic rules: words ending in a vowel, -n or -s are stressed on the second-to-last syllable; words ending in other consonants are stressed on the last syllable; and any exception carries a written accent.
重音符号不是装饰,它会改变词义,在 CAIE 写作卷中漏写重音会被算作错误。记住三条基本规则:以元音、-n 或 -s 结尾的词,重音在倒数第二个音节;以其他辅音结尾的词,重音在最后一个音节;任何例外都要写出重音符号。
- Meaning-changing pairs: sí (yes) / si (if); él (he) / el (the); más (more) / mas (but); tú (you) / tu (your); mí (me) / mi (my); aún (still) / aun (even). — 重音改变词义的最小对立对。
- Question words: ¿Qué? ¿Cómo? ¿Dónde? ¿Cuándo? ¿Por qué? — 疑问词在问句和间接问句中都要带重音。
- Punctuation: ¿...? and ¡...! need opening marks in Spanish. — 疑问句和感叹句必须加倒问号与倒感叹号。
Students also lose marks by forgetting the tilde in verb forms such as "habló" (past) versus "hablo" (present), "trabajé" versus "trabaje", and in the future tense: "hablaré", "comerás", "vivirá".
学生也常因为漏写动词重音而丢分,例如 "habló"(过去时)与 "hablo"(现在时)、"trabajé" 与 "trabaje" 的区分,以及将来时 "hablaré"、"comerás"、"vivirá" 的重音。
Also watch the letter ñ, which is a separate letter: "ano" and "año" are completely different words. If your keyboard cannot type accents, practise until the habit of typing or writing them becomes automatic before the exam.
还要注意 ñ 是独立字母:"ano" 与 "año" 是完全不同的词。如果你的键盘不方便输入重音,考前一
