📚 IGCSE Cambridge German: Vocabulary & Terminology Rapid Memory Guide | IGCSE 剑桥德语:词汇术语速记指南
This guide helps IGCSE Cambridge German learners build vocabulary quickly, avoid common terminology traps, and remember high-yield words together with gender, plural and word-order rules. Every point is written in paired English and Chinese so that you can use the two languages for active recall instead of passive reading. Work through one section at a time, cover the right-hand column, and test yourself aloud.
本指南帮助 IGCSE 剑桥德语学习者快速积累词汇、避开常见术语陷阱,并在记忆高频词时同步掌握词性、复数和语序规则。每个要点都以英中配对的方式呈现,方便你用两种语言做主动回忆,而不是被动阅读。建议一次只攻一个小节,遮住右侧答案,并出声自测。
1. Why Vocabulary Comes First | 为什么先抓词汇
Vocabulary is the fastest lever in IGCSE German. Grammar mistakes cost you marks at the margins, but a missing word stops the sentence dead. If you know 1,200 well-chosen words you can already survive every core topic: identity, family, school, daily routine, food, health, travel, environment and future plans. The Cambridge papers reward range, so a student who can reach for two or three synonyms will always outscore a student who repeats one safe word ten times.
词汇是 IGCSE 德语中提分最快的杠杆。语法错误通常只扣边际分,但缺词会让整个句子直接"死掉"。如果你掌握 1200 个精选词,就已经能应付所有核心话题:自我介绍、家庭、学校、日常作息、饮食、健康、旅行、环境和未来计划。剑桥的试卷奖励"词汇广度",所以能随手换出两三个同义词的学生,分数一定高于把同一个安全词重复十遍的学生。
Speed matters too. The reading and listening papers are timed, so recognition must be automatic. An exam-grade vocabulary is not a list you can translate slowly; it is a set of words you recognise in under a second, with the article attached.
速度同样重要。阅读卷和听力卷都有时间压力,所以"认词"必须自动化。考试级别的词汇不是一份你能慢慢翻译的清单,而是一批你在一秒之内就能反应出来、并且连冠词一起记住的词。
- Target 1,000-1,500 active words plus 500 passive words. | 目标:1000-1500 个主动词汇,外加 500 个被动词汇。
- Always learn a noun with its article and plural. | 名词永远连同冠词和复数一起背。
- Learn verbs with their past participle, not alone. | 动词要连过去分词一起记,不要孤立地记。
- Learn words in a full sentence, so word order comes free. | 把词放进完整句子里记,语序就顺便记住了。
2. Build Your Base with Cognates | 用同源词打底
German and English share a large number of cognates, especially in topics such as family, school, food and travel. Recognising these cognates allows you to expand your passive vocabulary quickly and gives you more confidence in reading papers. Because English is a Germanic language at heart, many everyday words are cousins rather than strangers.
德语和英语有大量同源词,尤其在家庭、学校、食物和旅行等话题中。识别这些同源词可以快速扩大你的被动词汇量,并让你在阅读卷中更有信心。因为英语本质上是一门日耳曼语言,很多日常词与德语是"表亲"关系,而不是陌生人。
However, spelling and pronunciation often hide the link, so train yourself to see the English inside the German word. For example, Haus is house, Maus is mouse, Buch is book, and Apfel is apple. Once you notice that German often keeps the older consonant, the connections become obvious: t in English often appears as z or ss in German (water - Wasser, ten - zehn), and p often appears as pf (apple - Apfel, pepper - Pfeffer).
然而,拼写和发音常常掩盖了联系,因此要训练自己看出德语词里的英语影子。例如,Haus 是 house,Maus 是 mouse,Buch 是 book,Apfel 是 apple。一旦你注意到德语常常保留更古老的辅音,联系就变得明显了:英语的 t 在德语中常变成 z 或 ss(water - Wasser,ten - zehn),英语的 p 常变成 pf(apple - Apfel,pepper - Pfeffer)。
Use the table below for a five-minute daily warm-up. Cover the German column, read the English and Chinese, then say the German aloud with its article.
用下面这张表做每天五分钟的热身。遮住德语列,读英语和中文,然后连冠词一起把德语说出来。
| English | German | 中文 | Memory hook |
|---|---|---|---|
| water | das Wasser | 水 | Both keep w, s, r |
| apple | der Apfel | 苹果 | Ap- at the start, p becomes pf |
| house | das Haus | 房子 | H + s, same shape |
| mouse | die Maus | 老鼠 | Only the vowel changes |
| book | das Buch | 书 | B + ch, both "b-k" sounds |
| school | die Schule | 学校 | Sch = sh, from Latin schola |
| family | die Familie | 家庭 | Nearly identical spelling |
| music | die Musik | 音乐 | Same stress, k not c |
| hand | die Hand | 手 | Identical |
| finger | der Finger | 手指 | Identical |
| garden | der Garten | 花园 | d becomes t |
| winter | der Winter | 冬天 | Identical |
| fish | der Fisch | 鱼 | f + isch |
| milk | die Milch | 牛奶 | k becomes ch |
3. Gender: der, die, das and the Rules That Really Help | 词性:der、die、das 与真正有用的规则
Every German noun carries a gender, and the article travels with it into every case. You cannot guess gender reliably, but the endings give you strong statistical clues. Learn the endings below as "families", and you will be right far more often than you are wrong.
每个德语名词都带着词性,而冠词会跟随它进入每一个格。词性无法百分之百靠猜,但词尾会给你很强的统计线索。把下面这些词尾当成"家族"来记,你的正确率会远高于错误率。
- der (masculine): days, months, seasons and weather - der Montag, der Januar, der Sommer, der Regen; male persons and professions - der Lehrer, der Arzt; endings -er, -ling, -ismus, -or, -ant, -ent, -ist. | der(阳性):星期、月份、季节与天气;男性人物与职业;词尾 -er、-ling、-ismus、-or、-ant、-ent、-ist。
- die (feminine): endings -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tion, -tät, -ie, -ik, -ur, -enz, -anz; most nouns in -e - die Schule, die Blume; female persons - die Lehrerin, die Ärztin; motorcycles and many native river names.
Watch the famous exceptions, because examiners love them: der Junge (boy), der Name (name), das Auge (eye), das Herz (heart) and die Wohnung being regular but der Käse being not. When a rule and a memory conflict, trust the memory - but only for words you have actually drilled.
要注意那些著名的例外,因为出题人特别喜欢它们:der Junge(男孩)、der Name(名字)、das Auge(眼睛)、das Herz(心)。当规则与记忆冲突时,以记忆为准——但只限于你真正反复练过的词。
Colour coding works: write masculine nouns in blue, feminine in red, neuter in green. Your brain remembers the colour faster than the article at first, and the colour then triggers the article.
颜色编码很有效:阳性词用蓝色写,阴性词用红色写,中性词用绿色写。起初大脑记住颜色比记住冠词更快,而颜色随后会"触发"冠词。
4. Plural Patterns: Five Endings Cover Most Nouns | 复数规律:五种词尾覆盖大多数名词
German has more plural patterns than English, but they cluster. Learn the five main types below with one anchor word each, then attach new nouns to the anchors. Always say the plural out loud with the article die, because every plural uses die.
德语的复数类型比英语多,但它们是成簇出现的。记住下面五大类型,每类配一个"锚点词",之后把新名词挂到锚点上。复数一定要连冠词 die 一起出声读,因为所有复数都用 die。
| Pattern | Example | 中文 | Typical members |
|---|---|---|---|
| -e / -̈e | der Tag - die Tage; der Stuhl - die Stühle | 天;椅子 | Many masculine nouns |
| -en / -n | die Frau - die Frauen; die Schule - die Schulen | 女人;学校 | Most feminine nouns |
| -er / -̈er | das Kind - die Kinder; das Haus - die Häuser | 孩子;房子 | Many neuter nouns |
| -s | das Auto - die Autos; das Hobby - die Hobbys | 汽车;爱好 | Loanwords from English and French |
| no ending / umlaut only | der Lehrer - die Lehrer; der Apfel - die Äpfel | 老师;苹果 | -er, -en, -el nouns |
Two more rules are worth memorising. Nouns ending in -nis add -se (das Ergebnis - die Ergebnisse), and nouns ending in -in double the n (die Lehrerin - die Lehrerinnen). Both appear in school and family writing tasks constantly.
还有两条值得背下来的规则:以 -nis 结尾的名词加 -se(das Ergebnis - die Ergebnisse);以 -in 结尾的名词要双写 n(die Lehrerin - die Lehrerinnen)。这两条在学校与家庭类写作任务中反复出现。
5. High-Yield Topic Vocabulary | 高频话题词汇
Cambridge topic areas repeat predictably. Build a 20-word "core kit" for each area, then extend it with ten adjectives and five connectives. Below are the highest-yield items in four areas that appear in almost every paper.
剑桥的话题范围重复性很强。为每个话题建立一份 20 词的"核心装备",再用十个形容词和五个连接词去扩展。下面是几乎每套卷子都会出现的四个话题中的最高频词。
- Family and identity: die Eltern (parents), die Geschwister (siblings), der Verwandte (relative), verheiratet (married), geschieden (divorced), alleinerziehend (single parent). | 家庭与身份:父母、兄弟姐妹、亲戚、已婚、离异、单亲。
- School and routine: der Stundenplan (timetable), die Hausaufgabe (homework), die Prüfung (exam), das Zeugnis (report), sich beeilen (to hurry), aufstehen (to get up). | 学校与作息:课程表、家庭作业、考试、成绩单、赶紧、起床。
- Food and health: das Gemüse (vegetables), das Fleisch (meat), die Ernährung (diet/nutrition), zunehmen (to gain weight), abnehmen (to lose weight), sich fühlen (to feel). | 饮食与健康:蔬菜、肉类、饮食、增重、减重、感觉。
- Travel and environment: die Reise (journey), die Unterkunft (accommodation), die Umwelt (environment), der Müll (rubbish), sparen (to save), umweltfreundlich (eco-friendly). | 旅行与环境:旅行、住宿、环境、垃圾、节省、环保的。
Connectives raise your grade faster than rare nouns, because they make longer sentences possible. Master these eight: und, aber, oder, denn, weil, dass, wenn, obwohl. Two of them - weil and dass - send the verb to the end, which is exactly what examiners are looking for in a Grade 7-9 answer.
连接词比生僻名词提分更快,因为它们让长句成为可能。先掌握这八个:und、aber、oder、denn、weil、dass、wenn、obwohl。其中 weil 和 dass 会把动词推到句末,而这正是考官在 7-9 分档答案中想看到的结构。
6. Word Order: Three Rules That Fix Most Mistakes | 语序:能解决大多数错误的三条规则
German word order is rule-driven, not random. Three rules cover almost everything you will write in IGCSE: the verb-second rule, the Time-Manner-Place order, and the verb-final rule in subordinate clauses.
德语语序是规则驱动的,不是随意的。三条规则几乎可以覆盖你在 IGCSE 中要写的所有内容:动词第二位规则、时间—方式—地点顺序,以及从句中动词置末规则。
Rule 1 - the verb is always the second element. If you start with a time expression, the subject must move after the verb:
规则一——动词永远是第二个成分。如果你把时间状语放在句首,主语就必须移到动词之后:
Ich fahre morgen nach Berlin. → Morgen fahre ich nach Berlin.
Rule 2 - Time, Manner, Place. When several adverbials appear, they follow TeKaMoLo: temporal, kausal, modal, lokal.
规则二——时间、方式、地点。当多个状语同时出现时,顺序是 TeKaMoLo:时间、原因、方式、地点。
Ich fahre morgen mit dem Bus in die Stadt.
Rule 3 - the verb goes to the end in a subordinate clause. After weil, dass, wenn, obwohl, als and damit, the conjugated verb is the last word.
规则三——从句中动词置于句末。在 weil、dass、wenn、obwohl、als、damit 之后,变位动词是最后一个词。
Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin. (not: weil ich bin krank)
Modal verbs and the perfect tense also push a verb to the end: Ich muss heute lernen (infinitive last) and Ich habe gestern gelernt (participle last). Practise these two sentence frames until they feel automatic - they appear in every writing task.
情态动词和完成时同样会把一个动词推到句末:Ich muss heute lernen(不定式在末)与 Ich habe gestern gelernt(过去分词在末)。把这两个句型练到自动化,它们会出现在每一篇写作里。
7. False Friends and Terminology Traps | 假朋友与术语陷阱
False friends are the single most common cause of lost marks in reading and translation tasks. The words look English, so your brain relaxes - and then you write the opposite of what the text says.
假朋友是阅读与翻译题丢分最常见的原因。这些词长得像英语,于是大脑放松了警惕——然后你写出的意思与原文正好相反。
| German | False meaning | Real meaning | 中文 |
|---|---|---|---|
| bekommen | to become | to receive, to get | 得到 |
| werden | to get | to become | 变成 |
| das Gift | a present | poison | 毒药 |
