📚 IGCSE Cambridge German: Common Mistakes and How to Fix Them | IGCSE 剑桥德语:常见误区与纠正方法

Many IGCSE Cambridge German candidates understand the core grammar rules but still lose marks because small, repeated errors harden into habits. This revision guide identifies the classic mistakes in noun gender, plurals, case, word order, separable verbs, adjective endings, prepositions, tenses, modal verbs, vocabulary and exam technique - and, for each one, gives a concrete correction strategy you can apply in the next past paper.

许多 IGCSE 剑桥德语考生虽然理解核心语法规则,但由于一些小错误反复出现、固化成习惯,仍然会丢分。本复习指南将逐条指出名词词性、复数、格、语序、可分动词、形容词词尾、介词、时态、情态动词、词汇与考试技巧中的经典误区,并为每一条提供可以在下一套真题中立刻使用的具体纠正方法。

1. Why Small Errors Keep Costing Marks | 为什么小错误会持续丢分

Most candidates who take Cambridge IGCSE German can explain the accusative case in class, yet the same candidate writes "Ich sehe der Mann" under exam pressure. The gap is not knowledge; it is automaticity. When time is short, the brain falls back on the pattern it has used most often - and if that pattern is wrong, it is the wrong pattern that reaches the paper.

大多数参加剑桥 IGCSE 德语考试的考生都能在课堂上讲清楚第四格的规则,但同一位考生在考场时间压力下却会写出 "Ich sehe der Mann"。问题不在知识,而在自动化程度。时间紧张时,大脑会退回到使用最频繁的模式;如果这个模式本身是错的,落到卷面上的就是错的。

Written papers are marked for communication and for language (range and accuracy), and speaking is marked in the same way. A repeated gender or ending error lowers the language mark even when the message is perfectly clear. Six scattered small errors across a 130-word essay create a worse impression than one ambitious complex sentence that is slightly imperfect.

写作卷按"交际"与"语言(范围与准确性)"两部分评分,口语同样如此。即使意思完全清楚,反复出现的词性或词尾错误也会拉低语言分。在一篇 130 词的作文里散布六个小错误,比写一个略有瑕疵但结构复杂的句子给考官的印象更差。

The fix is a written error log. After every past paper, list each mistake under a heading - gender, plural, case, word order, verb form, preposition, spelling - and count them. Two weeks later, re-test only the two largest categories. This converts a vague feeling of "my German is weak" into a short, finishable task list.

解决办法是建立书面错题本。每做完一套真题,把错误按类别记录:词性、复数、格、语序、动词形式、介词、拼写,并统计数量。两周后只重测数量最多的两类。这样就把"我德语不行"的模糊感受,变成一份简短、可完成的任务清单。

2. Noun Gender: Guesswork vs. System | 名词词性:靠猜还是靠系统

Every German noun has one of three genders: der (masculine), die (feminine), das (neuter). A very common mistake is to learn der Tisch but then forget the gender when writing or speaking. Gender is not optional: it controls the article, the adjective ending and the pronoun. Never learn a noun as just Tisch; learn it as der Tisch, ideally colour-coded or inside a fixed phrase.

在德语中,每个名词都有三种词性之一:der(阳性)、die(阴性)、das(中性)。一个非常常见的误区是只记住 der Tisch,却在写作或口语中忘记它的词性。词性不是可有可无的:它决定冠词、形容词词尾和代词。学习名词时绝不能只记 Tisch,而要记 der Tisch,最好用颜色标记或放进固定短语里记。

Suffix patterns cut down the guessing. Feminine endings include -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tion, -tät, -ei and -in (for female persons). Neuter endings include -chen, -lein, -ment and -um. Masculine endings include -er (agents and tools), -ling and -ismus. These are tendencies, not laws: das Mädchen is neuter despite meaning, and die Butter, das Wasser and der Käse simply have to be memorised.

后缀规律可以减少猜测。阴性后缀包括 -ung、-heit、-keit、-schaft、-tion、-tät、-ei 以及表示女性的 -in。中性后缀包括 -chen、-lein、-ment、-um。阳性后缀包括 -er(施动者与工具)、-ling、-ismus。这些只是倾向而非铁律:das Mädchen 虽然指女孩却是中性,而 die Butter、das Wasser、der Käse 只能靠记忆。

In compound nouns the gender is decided by the last element, because the last element is the head of the word: das Haus gives das Krankenhaus, der Ball gives der Fußball, das Zimmer gives das Klassenzimmer. Check the gender of the final component and you have the gender of the whole word.

复合名词的词性由最后一个组成部分决定,因为最后一部分才是中心词:das Haus 派生出 das Krankenhaus, der Ball 派生出 der Fußball, das Zimmer 派生出 das Klassenzimmer。查清最后那个词的词性,整个复合词的词性就确定了。

3. Plurals: Learn the Form, Not Just the Word | 复数形式:不能只背单词

German plurals are irregular, and candidates who learn only the singular lose marks the moment they write about more than one thing. There are five main patterns plus a group that changes nothing. Learn every new noun as a pair: singular with article, plural also with article - das Buch, die Bücher.

One extra rule is often forgotten: in the dative plural, an -n is added if the plural does not already end in -n or -s. So it is mit den Kindern, in den Häusern, bei den Freunden. Missing that -n is a typical accuracy slip in the writing paper.

还有一条规则常被忽略:第三格复数如果本身不以 -n 或 -s 结尾,要再加 -n。所以说 mit den Kindern、in den Häusern、bei den Freunden。漏掉这个 -n 是写作卷中非常典型的准确性失误。

4. Case: Nominative, Accusative, Dative, Genitive | 格:第一格到第四格

Case mistakes are the single biggest source of lost accuracy marks. The subject of the sentence takes the nominative; the direct object takes the accusative; the indirect object takes the dative; possession takes the genitive. The definite article is the fastest way to see the system.

格的错误是准确性失分最大的来源。句子的主语用第一格,直接宾语用第四格,间接宾语用第三格,表示所属用第二格。定冠词的变化是看清整个体系最快的方式。

Case | 格Masculine | 阳Feminine | 阴Neuter | 中Plural | 复
Nominative | 第一格derdiedasdie
Accusative | 第四格dendiedasdie
Dative | 第三格demderdemden (+ -n)
Genitive | 第二格des (+ -s)derdes (+ -s)der

Only the masculine form visibly changes in the accusative, which is exactly why candidates miss it: der becomes den, and the adjective and possessive follow - Ich sehe den neuen Lehrer, Ich kaufe meinen Bruder ein Geschenk. In the dative plural, the noun adds -n as shown above.

只有阳性在第一格与第四格之间有明显变化,这恰恰是考生容易漏掉的地方:der 变成 den,形容词和物主代词随之变化——Ich sehe den neuen Lehrer,Ich kaufe meinen Bruder ein Geschenk。第三格复数时名词还要加 -n。

Certain verbs take a fixed dative object and must simply be memorised: helfen, danken, gefallen, gehören, passen, wehtun, antworten. So it is Ich helfe meinem Vater, Das Buch gehört meiner Schwester. The genitive is used in formal writing - das Auto meines Vaters - but in everyday speech von + dative is equally acceptable: das Auto von meinem Vater.

有些动词固定支配第三格宾语,必须背下来:helfen、danken、gefallen、gehören、passen、wehtun、antworten。所以说 Ich helfe meinem Vater,Das Buch gehört meiner Schwester。第二格用于正式书面语——das Auto meines Vaters——但日常口语中 von + 第三格同样正确:das Auto von meinem Vater。

5. Word Order: Verb Second and Time-Manner-Place | 语序:动词第二位与时间-方式-地点

The single most important word-order rule in German is that the finite verb stands in position two in a main clause. English speakers break it by keeping the subject first at all costs. If you start with a time expression, the verb still comes second and the subject moves behind it: Heute gehe ich ins Kino, not Heute ich gehe ins Kino.

德语最重要的一条语序规则是:主句中变位动词位于第二位。英语母语者常因为坚持把主语放在最前面而违反这条规则。如果句首是时间状语,动词仍然在第二位,主语移到动词之后:Heute gehe ich ins Kino,而不是 Heute ich gehe ins Kino。

When several adverbials appear, the neutral order is time, then manner, then place: Ich fahre morgen mit dem Bus in die Stadt. Time before place is the pattern examiners expect; putting the place first is not wrong but sounds marked, and in a short essay it is safer to use the standard order.

当句中出现多个状语时,中性语序是时间、方式、地点:Ich fahre morgen mit dem Bus in die Stadt。时间在地点之前是考官预期的模式;把地点放前面并非语法错误,但听起来有强调意味,在短文中用标准语序更稳妥。

In subordinate clauses introduced by weil, dass, wenn, obwohl, damit or als, the finite verb goes to the very end: Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil es heute regnet. If the subordinate clause comes first, the main clause verb follows immediately after the comma: Wenn es regnet, bleibe ich zu Hause. Writing "Wenn es regnet, ich bleibe zu Hause" is one of the most frequent sentence-level errors in the writing paper.

由 weil、dass、wenn、obwohl、damit、als 引导的从句中,变位动词要放到末尾:Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil es heute regnet。如果从句在前,主句动词要紧跟逗号之后:Wenn es regnet, bleibe ich zu Hause。写成 "Wenn es regnet, ich bleibe zu Hause" 是写作卷中最常见的句级错误之一。

6. Separable Verbs and Prefixes | 可分动词与前缀

Separable verbs such as anrufen, aufstehen, einkaufen, mitkommen, fernsehen and zumachen split in a main clause: the prefix travels to the end of the sentence. Ich rufe meine Mutter jeden Abend an. Ich stehe um sieben Uhr auf. Forgetting the prefix is not a small slip - the sentence becomes a different verb or no verb at all.

anrufen、aufstehen、einkaufen、mitkommen、fernsehen、zumachen 等可分动词在主句中要拆开:前缀移到句末。Ich rufe meine Mutter jeden Abend an. Ich stehe um sieben Uhr auf。漏掉前缀不是小失误——句子会变成另一个动词,甚至不成句。

The prefix stays attached in three important situations. In a subordinate clause the whole verb goes to the end unsplit: ..., weil ich um sieben Uhr aufstehe. With a modal verb the infinitive stays whole at the end: Ich muss morgen früh aufstehen. With zu the zu goes inside the verb: Es ist wichtig, früh aufzustehen.

在三种重要情况下前缀不分离。从句中整个动词不拆开地放到末尾:..., weil ich um sieben Uhr aufstehe。与情态动词连用时,不定式完整地放在末尾:Ich muss morgen früh aufstehen。加 zu 时,zu 插在动词中间:Es ist wichtig, früh aufzustehen。

and never take ge- in the past participle: besuchen → besucht, verstehen → verstanden, erzählen → erzä plies to verbs ending in -ieren: studieren → studiert. Mixing these up produces forms like "geverstanden", which immediately signals uncertainty to the examiner.

不可分前缀 be-、ge-、er-、ver-、zer-、ent-、emp-、miss- 永不分离,过去分词也不加 ge-:besuchen → besucht,verstehen → verstanden,erzählen → erzählt。以 -ieren 结尾的动词同理:studieren → studiert。混淆之后会写出 "geverstanden" 这类形式,立刻向考官暴露基础不牢。

7. Adjective Endings: One Table, Three Situations | 形容词词尾:一张表,三种情况

Adjective endings are not random; they carry the information the article does not show. After a definite article the ending is weak: -e in the nominative singular of all genders and in the accusative of feminine and neuter, and -en everywhere else. So: der gute Wein, den guten Wein, dem guten Wein, die gute Milch, das kalte Wasser.

形容词词尾并非随意变化,它承担的是冠词没有显示出来的信息。定冠词之后是弱变化:各性第一格单数以及阴性、中性的第四格用 -e,其余位置一律用 -en。因此:der gute Wein、den guten Wein、dem guten Wein、die gute Milch、das kalte Wasser。

After the indefinite article ein/eine/ein the adjective must show the gender itself, so it takes the strong ending where the article has none: ein guter Wein, eine gute Milch, ein kaltes Wasser - but in the accusative masculine and throughout the dative, both article and adjective end in -en: einen guten Wein, einem guten Wein.

在不定冠词 ein/eine/ein 之后,形容词必须自己显示词性,所以在冠词没有词尾的位置要改用强变化词尾:ein guter Wein、eine gute Milch、ein kaltes Wasser;但在阳性第四格以及所有第三格中,冠词和形容词都用 -en:einen guten Wein、einem guten Wein。

With no article at all, the adjective carries the whole signal: guter Wein, gute Milch, kaltes Wasser; guten Wein in the accusative masculine, and gutem Wein in the dative masculine. Rather than memorising three tables separately, learn one grid of the "signal endings" - -er, -es, -e, -en - and ask which word is already showing the case and gender.

完全没有冠词时,形容词要承担全部信号:guter Wein、gute Milch、kaltes Wasser;阳性第四格是 guten Wein,阳性第三格是 gutem Wein。与其分别背三张表,不如记住一组"信号词尾"——-er、-es、-e、-en——然后问自己:句子里哪一个词已经在显示格和词性了?

8. Prepositions and the Case They Govern | 介词及其支配的格

Prepositions are pure memorisation plus one logic rule. Accusative prepositions are durch, für, gegen, ohne, um, bis and entlang. Dative prepositions are aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu and gegenüber. Two-way prepositions - an, auf, in, über, unter, vor, hinter, neben, zwischen - take the accusative for movement and the dative for position.

介词既要靠记忆,也有一条逻辑规则。支配第四格的介词有 durch、für、
