📚 IGCSE WJEC PE Essay Writing: Frameworks and Model Answers | IGCSE WJEC 体育:论文写作框架与范文
Extended writing in WJEC Physical Education rewards structure, application and judgement as much as knowledge. A candidate who knows every definition in the specification can still drop into the middle band if the answer wanders, never uses a sporting example, or stops short of a clear judgement. This guide gives you a repeatable essay framework, worked model answers and exam-ready checklists for IGCSE WJEC PE extended-response questions.
在 WJEC 体育的扩展写作中,高分不仅取决于知识量,还取决于结构、应用与判断。一个把考纲里每个定义都背下来的考生,如果答案东拉西扯、从不使用体育实例、或者到最后也没有给出明确判断,依然会落在中间档。本文提供一套可复用的论文写作框架、完整范文,以及适用于 IGCSE WJEC 体育扩展题目的考前检查清单。
1. Why Extended Writing Decides Your Grade | 为什么扩展写作决定你的成绩
In most WJEC PE papers, the short-answer questions test recall under time pressure, but the extended-response questions carry the largest single blocks of marks. These questions typically run from 6 to 9 marks and are marked using a levels-based band descriptor rather than a checklist. That means you are not simply collecting one mark per correct fact; you are being judged on the quality of your reasoning as a whole.
在大多数 WJEC 体育试卷中,简答题考查的是限时记忆与回忆,而扩展题则占据了分值最大的单块分数。这类题通常是 6 至 9 分,采用等级式评分标准而非逐点给分。这意味着你不是在一条一条地收集事实分,而是在整体上被评判推理的质量。
The practical consequence is that two candidates who write the same six facts can end up three or four marks apart. The difference is almost always structure, application and evaluation. Examiners reward answers that move from knowledge into a named sporting context and then into a judgement about which factor matters most and why. If your answer never leaves the abstract, it caps out in the middle band no matter how accurate your biology is.
实际的后果是:写出同样六条事实的两个考生,最终可能相差三到四分。差别几乎总是来自结构、应用与评价。考官青睐那种从知识出发、进入具体运动情境、再给出关于哪一因素最重要及其原因的判断的答案。如果你的答案始终停留在抽象层面,那么无论你的生理学知识多准确,分数都会被压在中间档。
A second consequence is that time management becomes part of the assessment. Extended answers need planning time, and candidates who begin writing immediately usually produce a first paragraph that is strong and then repeat themselves. Learning a fixed framework removes that risk because you always know what the next sentence in your plan should be.
第二个后果是时间管理本身也成为考核的一部分。扩展题需要构思时间,而一上来就动笔的考生往往第一段写得很好,随后开始重复自己。掌握一套固定框架能消除这种风险,因为你知道计划里的下一句应该写什么。
2. Understanding WJEC Command Words | 理解 WJEC 命令词
In WJEC PE extended writing, marks are lost when students describe when they should explain, or list points when they should evaluate. Command words set the depth of the response and should control every paragraph you write. Before you plan, underline the command word and write the required depth next to it in the margin.
在 WJEC 体育扩展写作中,学生常因该解释时只描述、该评价时只罗列要点而失分。命令词决定了答案的深度,也应控制你写下的每一段。构思之前,先划出命令词,并在页边写下它要求的深度。
| Command word 命令词 | Required depth 要求深度 | Sentence stem 句式 |
| State / Identify / Define 陈述/识别/定义 | One fact per mark, no explanation 每分一条事实,无需解释 | One example is... 一个例子是…… |
| Describe 描述 | What happens, in sequence 说明发生了什么,按顺序 | This means that... 这意味着…… |
| Explain 解释 | Cause and effect, with a reason 因果链,须给出原因 | This happens because... 这之所以发生,是因为…… |
| Analyse 分析 | Break down into parts and show how they interact 拆解要素并说明其相互作用 | This depends on... and interacts with... 这取决于……并与……相互作用 |
| Evaluate / Assess / Discuss 评价/评估/讨论 | Weigh both sides, then reach a supported conclusion 权衡两面并给出有支撑的结论 | On balance, the greater influence is... because... 总体而言,影响更大的是……因为…… |
The single most useful habit is to treat Explain as requiring the word because at least once per point, and Evaluate as requiring the words however, but and on balance. If those words are missing from your answer, your depth is almost certainly below the command word.
最有用的习惯只有两条:把解释类题目视作每个要点至少要用一次因为;把评价类题目视作至少要出现然而、但是和总体而言。如果答案里完全没有这些词,你的深度几乎肯定低于命令词的要求。
One further warning: the WJEC instruction words sometimes appear as a compound, such as Explain and justify. That is two jobs. The first half is cause and effect; the second half is a defensible opinion tied to the evidence you have just given. Answer only the first half and you will lose the judgement marks.
还有一点需要提醒:WJEC 的指令词有时以复合形式出现,例如解释并论证。这其实是两项任务。前半部分是因果分析,后半部分是与你刚给出的证据相挂钩的、能够站得住脚的观点。只回答前半部分,就会丢掉判断分。
3. The Four Pillars: Knowledge, Application, Analysis, Judgement | 四大支柱:知识、应用、分析、判断
Every high-band WJEC PE extended answer rests on four pillars. Knowledge is the terminology and factual base drawn from the specification, such as the components of fitness, the stages of learning, or the structure of a training programme. Without it nothing else is possible, but it only earns the lowest band on its own.
每一篇高分 WJEC 体育扩展答案都建立在四大支柱之上。知识是来自考纲的术语与事实基础,例如体适能要素、学习阶段或训练计划结构。没有它,其他一切无从谈起,但仅有它只能拿到最低档。
Application is where you place that knowledge inside a real sporting context. This means naming the activity, the performer, the position, the intensity and the situation. Instead of writing about muscular endurance, you write about a rower maintaining stroke rate over the final 500 m of a 2000 m race. Application is usually the fastest way to gain marks, because the specification insists that PE content is contextual.
应用是指把知识放进真实的运动情境中。这意味着要点明项目、对象、位置、强度和情境。不要泛泛地写肌肉耐力,而要写赛艇运动员在 2000 米比赛的最后 500 米维持划桨频率。应用通常是提分最快的途径,因为体育考纲本身就要求内容情境化。
Analysis is the chain of reasoning that links cause to effect and weighs different factors against one another. Here you show how one variable changes another: how an increase in intensity raises heart rate, which raises oxygen delivery, which delays fatigue but also raises the risk of technique breakdown. Analysis is what separates a description of training from an explanation of adaptation.
分析是把原因与结果连接起来,并对不同因素相互权衡的推理链。你要展示一个变量如何改变另一个变量:强度提高使心率上升,进而提高氧气输送,从而延缓疲劳,但同时也提高技术变形的风险。分析正是区分训练描述与适应解释的关键。
Judgement is the final verdict. It states which factor is most significant, under what conditions, and why, using the evidence you have already provided. A judgement is not a summary. It is a decision, and it must be justified. Most candidates lose their final two or three marks here, not because they lack knowledge but because they never commit to an answer.
判断是最终的裁决。它要说明哪一因素最重要、在什么条件下最重要、以及为什么最重要,并且要用你已经给出的证据来支撑。判断不是总结,而是一个决定,而且必须有理由。多数考生丢掉的正是最后两到三分,原因不是知识不足,而是从不敢给出明确结论。
4. A Repeatable Essay Framework: PEEL+J | 可复用的论文框架:PEEL+J
The framework below is a five-sentence paragraph you can use for almost every extended-response question in WJEC PE. It combines the familiar PEEL structure with an explicit judgement, which is where the top band lives. If the question is worth 6 marks, aim for two such paragraphs; for 9 marks, aim for three plus a short concluding judgement.
下面这套框架是一个五句式段落,几乎适用于所有 WJEC 体育扩展题。它把常见的 PEEL 结构与明确的判断结合,而判断正是最高档的所在。题目 6 分时,写两段这样的段落;题目 9 分时,写三段再加一段简短的总结性判断。
Point → Example → Explain → Link → Judge
- Point 观点 – answer the question directly in one clause. 用一句话直接回应题目。
- Example 实例 – name the sport, performer, position or test. 点明项目、对象、位置或测试方法。
- Explain 解释 – use because, which means that, therefore to build a causal chain. 用因为、这意味着、因此搭建因果链。
- Link 回扣 – connect back to the demand of the question in one sentence. 用一句把内容拉回题目要求。
- Judge 判断 – state the significance, condition or limitation. 说明重要性、适用条件或局限。
A physical worked example makes the rhythm clear. For a question on why a warm-up improves performance, the five moves are: a warm-up prepares the body for activity; in a 100 m sprinter it raises muscle temperature in the hamstrings and quadriceps; this increases enzyme activity and the speed of nerve impulse transmission, so the muscles can contract faster and more forcefully; therefore the sprinter reaches peak speed sooner in the race; the greatest benefit is in explosive events over short distances, whereas in a marathon the main benefit is injury prevention rather than speed.
用一个体育实例能让节奏变得清晰。针对热身为何能提升表现这一问题,五步分别是:热身让身体为运动做好准备;对 100 米短跑选手而言,它提高腘绳肌与股四头肌的肌肉温度;这提升了酶活性与神经冲动传导速度,因此肌肉收缩更快更有力;所以选手在比赛中能更早达到最高速度;这一收益在短距离爆发性项目中最明显,而在马拉松中主要收益是预防损伤而非提高速度。
Notice that the same five-move pattern works for physiology, skill acquisition and socio-cultural questions. The vocabulary changes but the architecture does not. That consistency is exactly what saves you time in the exam hall and what makes your answers readable for a tired examiner.
注意,这五步模式对生理、技能习得与社会文化类题目同样适用。变化的只是词汇,架构不变。正是这种一致性,既为你节省考场时间,也让疲惫的阅卷老师容易读懂你的答案。
5. Planning in 90 Seconds: The Skeleton Plan | 90 秒构思:骨架计划
Never begin an extended answer without a plan, but keep the plan skeletal. Write the command word at the top, then three to four bullet points, each one being the Point of a paragraph. Next to each bullet, write the sporting example you will use. Underline the one you will judge as most significant.
绝不要在没有构思的情况下动笔,但计划要极简。先在顶端写下命令词,再写三到四个要点,每一点就是一段的观点句。在每个要点旁写下你要使用的体育实例。然后在你要判定为最重要的那一条下划线。
This 90-second plan does four things at once. It stops repetition, because you can see what you have already covered. It guarantees application, because every bullet has an example attached. It forces you to think about evaluation in advance, because you must choose a priority. And it gives you a ready-made conclusion, because the underlined bullet becomes the basis of your final judgement.
这个 90 秒计划同时完成四件事。它防止重复,因为你能看见自己已经写过什么。它保证应用,因为每个要点都配有实例。它迫使你提前思考评价,因为你必须选出优先项。它还给你现成的结论,因为下划线那一条就是最后判断的依据。
A practical tip: allocate roughly 10 % of the available time to planning. If a 9-mark question should take about 12 minutes, spend just over a minute planning and the rest writing. Candidates who skip the plan usually spend far longer than that trying to remember what they wanted to say next.
一个实用建议:把可用时间的约 10% 用于构思。如果一道 9 分题应该用 12 分钟,就花一分多钟构思,其余时间写作。跳过构思的考生,为回想下一句要写什么而耗费的时间往往远超一分多钟。
6. Using Sporting Examples and Data | 使用体育实例与数据
Application marks come from specificity. A general statement about a team sport earns less than a statement about a netball goal shooter landing from a rebound and absorbing force through eccentric contraction of the quadriceps. Whenever you can, add the activity, the position, the intensity and the phase of play or performance.
应用分来自具体性。关于团队运动的泛泛之谈,其得分低于描述无板篮球投篮手抢下篮板落地、通过股四头肌离心收缩吸收冲击力的句子。只要可能,就补上项目、位置、强度以及比赛或表现的阶段。
Quantitative detail is powerful but must be plausible. Quoting a heart rate of 180 beats per minute, a work-to-rest ratio of 1:2, a training threshold of 60-80 % of maximum heart rate, or a rating of perceived exertion of 15 on the Borg scale all strengthen an answer because they show you can manipulate training variables rather than just name them.
量化细节很有力,但必须合理。引用每分钟 180 次的心率、1:2 的工作与休息比、最大心率 60% 至 80% 的训练阈,或博格量表 15 分的自感用力度,都能强化答案,因为它们说明你能操作训练变量,而不仅仅是说出名称。
Useful relationships to quote accurately include:
可以准确引用的关系式包括:
Cardiac output = Heart rate × Stroke volume
Speed = Stride length × Stride frequency
Work done = Force × Distance
A final rule on examples: never invent a professional athlete's statistics. Examiners accept hypothetical but realistic scenarios, such as a 16-year-old county-level swimmer, far more readily than a fabricated world record. Keep the performer plausible and the numbers sensible.
关于实例的最后一条规则:绝不要编造职业运动员的数据。考官更能接受假设但合理的场景,例如一位 16 岁的郡级游泳选手,而不是虚构的世界纪录。让对象可信,让数字合理。
7. Model Answer 1: Skill Acquisition and Feedback | 范文一:技能习得与反馈
Question: Explain how a coach could use feedback to improve a novice performer's overhead clear in badminton. (6 marks)
题目:说明教练如何利用反馈改进初学者的羽毛球高远球技术。(6 分)
When a performer is in the cognitive stage of learning, the coach should prioritise positive, immediate and externally provided feedback, because the novice has not yet built an internal reference of what the correct movement feels like.
当学习者处于认知阶段时,教练应优先使用积极、即时、外部提供的反馈,因为初学者尚未建立正确动作感觉的内部参照。
For example, a 13-year-old beginner practising the overhead clear could receive concurrent verbal cueing such as high elbow, racket behind head during shadow practice, and immediately after each attempt the coach could point to the exact contact point above and slightly in front of the racket shoulder.
例如,一位 13 岁的初学者练习高远球时,在徒手模仿练习中可以接受同步的语言提示,如抬高手肘、球拍置于头后;而每次击球后,教练可以立即指出正确的击球点位于持拍肩上方并稍偏前的位置。
This works because knowledge of results tells the learner whether the shuttle reached the rear court, while knowledge of performance tells the learner how the movement itself was produced. Combined, they allow the novice to compare actual and ideal performance, which is the mechanism by which the motor programme is corrected and gradually becomes more consistent.
其原理在于:结果反馈告诉学习者球是否打到了后场,而表现反馈告诉学习者动作本身是如何完成的。两者结合,使初学者能够把实际表现与理想表现进行比较,这正是动作程序得以修正、并逐渐变得更稳定的机制。
However, the coach should not provide feedback after every repetition, because an overload of information in the cognitive stage interferes with the learner's own processing. A better approach is delayed, summary feedback after a set of six to eight attempts.
然而,教练不应在每次重复后都给出反馈,因为认知阶段的信息过载会干扰学习者自身的加工过程。更好的做法是延迟反馈,在一组六到八次尝试之后给出概括性反馈。
On balance, the most significant factor for this novice is positive, specific knowledge of performance delivered immediately after short blocks of practice, because it corrects the fundamental technique before bad habits become automated, whereas error correction alone would reduce confidence and slow progress towards the associative stage.
总体而言,对这名初学者影响最大的,是在短组练习后即时给出的积极而具体的表现反馈,因为它能在坏习惯自动化之前纠正基本技术;而仅仅指出错误则会打击信心,并延缓向联结阶段的过渡。
8. Model Answer 2: Exercise Physiology and Training | 范文二:运动生理与训练
Question: Analyse how a games player should apply the principles of training when preparing for a competitive season, and evaluate which principle is most important. (9 marks)
题目:分析球类项目运动员在备战赛季时应如何应用训练原则,并评价哪一原则最重要。(9 分)
The principle of specificity means training must replicate the demands of the game in terms of energy system, muscle groups and movement patterns. A midfield hockey player who covers roughly 8-10 km per match with repeated short sprints should therefore train predominantly through interval running and small-sided games rather than long, slow continuous runs.
专项性原则意味着训练必须在能量系统、肌群与动作模式上复制比赛的负荷。一名每场跑动约 8 至 10 公里、并伴有反复短距离冲刺的曲棍球中场球员,因此应以间歇跑与小场对抗为主,而不是长时间慢速持续跑。
Progressive overload requires the training stimulus to rise gradually above the current threshold. The performer can manipulate frequency, intensity, time or type. For example, adding one extra interval per session every two weeks, or reducing recovery from 90 seconds to 60 seconds, applies overload without an abrupt jump that would risk injury.
渐进超负荷要求训练刺激逐渐超出当前阈值。运动员可以调整频率、强度、时间或类型。例如,每两周每组增加一次间歇,或把恢复时间从 90 秒缩短到 60 秒,都是在不骤然加量、避免受伤风险的前提下施加超负荷。
Reversibility is the reminder that adaptations decay. During a two-week injury lay-off, the player will lose a measurable amount of aerobic capacity and muscular endurance, so a detraining period should be followed by a structured return rather than immediate return to full intensity.
可逆性提醒我们,适应会消退。在两周伤停期间,球员的有氧能力与肌肉耐力会出现可测量的下降,因此停训期之后应安排结构化的恢复过程,而不是立即回到满强度训练。
Rest and recovery act as the fourth control. Adaptation occurs during recovery, not during the session itself, so a 48-hour gap before a high-intensity session or a match allows muscle repair, glycogen resynthesis and nervous system recovery. A tapering week before the first fixture reduces volume while retaining intensity.
休息与恢复是第四个控制点。适应发生在恢复期间,而不是训练课当中,因此高强度训练课或比赛前留出 48 小时间隔,能够让肌肉修复、糖原再合成并让神经系统恢复。赛季首场比赛前安排一周减量期,可以降低训练量而保持强度。
On balance, specificity is the most important principle for this performer, because a physically well-loaded programme that trains the wrong energy system and the wrong movement patterns will still fail to transfer to match performance. Progressive overload determines how much the player improves, but specificity determines whether the improvement is usable at all, and it is therefore the principle that should shape every other decision.
总体而言,对这名运动员最重要的是专项性原则,因为一个负荷安排得当、却练错了能量系统与动作模式的计划,仍然无法迁移到比赛表现中。渐进超负荷决定球员提升的幅度,而专项性决定这种提升是否可用,因此它应当是所有其他决策的出发点。
9. Model Answer 3: Socio-cultural Factors | 范文三:社会文化因素
Question: Discuss the barriers that reduce participation by women in sport and evaluate the effectiveness of strategies used to overcome them. (9 marks)
题目:讨论减少女性参与体育的障碍,并评价用于克服这些障碍的策略的有效性。(9 分)
One persistent barrier is the availability of role models and media coverage. When elite women's sport receives a small fraction of broadcast time, young girls have fewer visible pathways to aspire to, and participation at grassroots level is affected as a result.
一个长期存在的障碍是榜样与媒体报道的可得性。当精英女子体育只获得很小一部分播出时间时,年轻女孩能看到的发展路径就更少,基层参与率也因此受到影响。
A second barrier is access and cost. Limited changing facilities, inconvenient session times and the expense of kit and travel disproportionately affect women, particularly in communities where household responsibilities fall more heavily on them.
第二个障碍是场地可及性与费用。更衣设施不足、上课时间不便以及装备和交通开支,对女性的影响尤为明显,在家庭责任更多落在女性身上的社区尤其如此。
A third barrier is socio-cultural expectation and stereotyping. Where sport is framed as masculine, girls may face disapproval from peers or family, and this reduces both initial uptake and long-term retention after the age of 14.
第三个障碍是社会文化期待与刻板印象。当体育被框定为男性气质活动时,女孩可能面临同伴或家人的不认同,这既降低初始参与率,也降低 14 岁之后的长期留存率。
Strategy evaluation must weigh reach against depth. Mass media campaigns such as This Girl Can have wide reach and shift attitudes towards participation, but their measurable effect on sustained participation is difficult to isolate. In contrast, targeted local provision, such as girls-only sessions, female coaches and school-club links, has narrower reach but a stronger and more durable effect on individual behaviour.
策略评价必须在覆盖面与深度之间权衡。诸如 This Girl Can 这样的大众媒体活动覆盖面广,能改变人们对参与的态度,但其对持续参与的可测量影响很难被单独分离出来。相比之下,有针对性的本地供给,例如女子专属课程、女性教练和学校与俱乐部的衔接,覆盖面较窄,却对个人行为产生更强、更持久的影响。
On balance, structural and local strategies are the more effective response, because attitude change without accessible, affordable and welcoming provision simply produces intention rather than participation. Media campaigns are valuable as a catalyst, but the barrier of access is the one that must be removed for the other strategies to convert into regular activity.
总体而言,结构性与本地化策略是更有效的应对方式,因为态度转变若缺乏可及、可负担且氛围友好的供给,只会产生意愿而非实际参与。媒体活动作为催化剂很有价值,但真正必须被移除的是可及性障碍,只有移除了它,其他策略才能转化为经常性的身体活动。
10. Evaluation and Judgement: Reaching the Top Band | 评价与判断:冲击最高档
Top-band answers in WJEC PE contain at least one explicit weighing of alternatives. Signal this move with language the examiner can see: however, whereas, this depends on, the extent to which, on balance, ultimately. These words are not decoration; they are the markers of analytical thinking.
WJEC 体育的最高档答案至少包含一次明确的权衡比较。用考官能够一眼看到的语言来标示这一动作:然而、相比之下、这取决于、在多大程度上、总体而言、归根结底。这些词不是装饰,而是分析性思维的标志。
A strong judgement has three parts. It names the priority, it states the condition under which that priority holds, and it gives the reason drawn from the evidence already presented. For example: the most significant factor is specificity, particularly for team games players, because the energy system and movement patterns must match or the training effect cannot transfer.
有力的判断包含三部分。它点明优先项,说明该优先项成立的条件,并给出取自前述证据的理由。例如:最重要的因素是专项性,对团队项目运动员尤其如此,因为能量系统与动作模式必须相吻合,否则训练效果无法迁移。
Avoid the temptation to sit on the fence. Writing that both factors are equally important is only acceptable if you then explain the specific circumstances in which each one dominates. An unqualified both are important statement reads as an unwillingness to judge, and band descriptors do not reward it.
避免骑墙。写两者同等重要只有在随后说明各自主导的具体情形时才可接受。不加限定的两者都重要读起来像是拒绝做出判断,而等级评分标准并不为此给分。
11. Common Errors and Mark-Sapping Habits | 常见错误与失分习惯
The most frequent error is the knowledge dump. This is a paragraph of accurate definitions that never mentions a sport, a performer or a situation. It might earn knowledge marks but it cannot access the application marks that usually carry more weight.
最常见的错误是知识倾泻。这是一段准确的术语定义,却从不提及任何项目、对象或
