2. Infrared Spectroscopy: Key Absorption Bands | 红外光谱：关键吸收带
Infrared spectroscopy detects bond vibrations. In Insert 3, absorptions are given in wavenumbers (cm⁻¹). The most important region for A Level identification is 1000-4000 cm⁻¹. A broad O-H stretch in an alcohol appears near 3200-3550 cm⁻¹, whereas a carboxylic acid O-H stretch is even broader and often overlaps the C-H region around 2500-3000 cm⁻¹.
