1. The Purpose of A-Level Mathematics | A-Level 数学的目标
A-level Mathematics is designed to deepen the problem-solving and reasoning skills developed at GCSE, while introducing new topics such as calculus, exponentials, logarithms, trigonometric identities, vectors and statistical distributions. AQA expects students to become fluent in algebraic manipulation and able to construct rigorous mathematical arguments.

Unlike GCSE, the A-level course places much less emphasis on recalling isolated methods and much more on selecting an appropriate strategy, justifying every step, and interpreting the result in context.

2. AQA Specification Structure | AQA 考试大纲结构
In the AQA specification 7357, the assessment is linear: all examinations are taken at the end of the two-year course. There is no coursework and no controlled assessment.

Pure mathematics is the largest component and includes algebra, functions, coordinate geometry, sequences, trigonometry, exponentials, logarithms, differentiation, integration and numerical methods. Statistics covers sampling, data presentation, probability, distributions and hypothesis testing. Mechanics covers vectors, kinematics, forces and Newton's laws.

Proof is an overarching theme in the AQA specification. You must be able to prove results by deduction, exhaustion and contradiction, and you must be able to disprove a statement by a single counterexample.
