从KS3过渡到IGCSE化学是培养扎实科学思维的关键一步。在剑桥初中阶段,你已经接触了粒子模型、简单反应和化学用语。本指南将重温你必须熟练掌握的核心概念,厘清在Checkpoint考试中会考查的技能,并展示这些基础如何直接衔接更具挑战性的IGCSE课程。此刻打牢这些基础,你将满怀信心地进入下一个阶段。
1. The Particle Model and States of Matter | 粒子模型与物质状态
Everything around you is made of tiny particles that are in constant motion. The way these particles are arranged and move explains why solids hold their shape, liquids flow, and gases spread out. In KS3 you learned that adding or removing energy can cause a change of state, such as melting or boiling, without altering the particles themselves.
你周围的一切都由不断运动的微小粒子构成。粒子的排列方式和运动状态解释了为什么固体保持形状、液体会流动、气体会扩散。在KS3中你已经学过,增加或减少能量可以引起状态变化,例如熔化或沸腾,而粒子本身并未改变。
- In a solid, particles are held tightly in a regular arrangement and can only vibrate in fixed positions.
- 在固体中,粒子被紧密束缚,排列规则,只能在固定位置振动。
- In a liquid, the particles are close together but are able to slide past one another, so the liquid takes the shape of its container.
- 在液体中,粒子彼此靠近但能相互滑动,因此液体会呈现容器的形状。
- In a gas, the particles are far apart, move rapidly in all directions, and have no fixed volume.
- 在气体中,粒子相距很远,快速地向各个方向运动,没有固定的体积。
State changes happen at specific temperatures: melting (solid to liquid), freezing (liquid to solid), boiling (liquid to gas), condensing (gas to liquid), sublimation (solid to gas) and deposition (gas to solid). Diffusion, the movement of particles from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration, is fastest in gases and slower in liquids; it provides evidence for the particle model.
状态变化在特定的温度下发生:熔化(固→液)、凝固(液→固)、沸腾(液→气)、凝结(气→液)、升华(固→气)和凝华(气→固)。扩散是指粒子从高浓度区域向低浓度区域运动,在气体中最快,在液体中较慢;这一现象为粒子模型提供了证据。
2. Atoms, Elements and the Periodic Table | 原子、元素与周期表
An atom is the smallest particle of an element that can take part in a chemical change. An element is a substance made of only one type of atom. The periodic table organises all known elements in order of increasing atomic number, grouping them according to similar properties. On the left and centre you find metals, while non-metals occupy the top right.
原子是元素参与化学变化的最小粒子。元素是由同一种原子组成的物质。周期表按原子序数递增的顺序排列所有已知元素,并将性质相似的元素归为一族。周期表的左侧和中部是金属,非金属位于右上方。
By the end of KS3 you should recognise the symbols of the first 20 elements and know that compounds are formed when different elements join together. Common groups such as Group 1 (alkali metals), Group 7 (halogens) and Group 0 (noble gases) are introduced, and you begin to link an element’s position to its reactivity.
在KS3结束时,你应能认出前20号元素的符号,并知道不同元素结合时形成化合物。常见的族如第1族(碱金属)、第7族(卤素)和第0族(稀有气体)已经引入,你开始将元素的位置与其活泼性联系起来。
| Element | 元素 | Symbol | 符号 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hydrogen | 氢 | H | H |
| Oxygen | 氧 | O | O |
| Sodium | 钠 | Na | Na |
| Iron | 铁 | Fe | Fe |
3. Chemical Symbols, Formulas and Simple Equations | 化学符号、化学式与简单方程式
Chemical symbols represent individual atoms. A chemical formula shows how many atoms of each element are present in a substance. For example, water is H₂O: two hydrogen atoms bonded to one oxygen atom. Some elements exist as diatomic molecules, such as H₂, O₂, N₂ and Cl₂, which you must memorise for writing equations correctly.
化学符号代表单个原子。化学式表示物质中每种元素原子的数目。例如,水是H₂O:两个氢原子与一个氧原子结合。有些元素以双原子分子存在,如H₂、O₂、N₂和Cl₂,你必须牢记它们,以便正确书写方程式。
A word equation describes a reaction using the names of reactants and products. A balanced symbol equation uses formulas and numbers to reflect the law of conservation of mass—atoms are neither created nor destroyed. Practise balancing simple equations now; it will make IGCSE stoichiometry much easier.
文字方程式用反应物和产物的名称描述反应。配平的符号方程式使用化学式和数字来体现质量守恒定律——原子既不会凭空产生也不会凭空消失。现在就练习配平简单方程式,这会让IGCSE的化学计量计算变得容易得多。
2Mg + O₂ → 2MgO
In the reaction above, two atoms of magnesium combine with one oxygen molecule to form two units of magnesium oxide. The total number of each type of atom is the same on both sides of the arrow.
在上面的反应中,两个镁原子与一个氧分子结合生成两个氧化镁单元。箭头两侧每种原子的总数相等。
4. Atomic Structure and Ion Formation | 原子结构与离子形成
Atoms are composed of a central nucleus containing protons and neutrons, surrounded by electrons arranged in shells. Protons have a positive charge, electrons a negative charge, and neutrons are neutral. The atomic number gives the number of protons, and the mass number is the total of protons plus neutrons.
原子由一个包含质子和中子的中心原子核以及核外分层排布的电子构成。质子带正电荷,电子带负电荷,中子不带电。原子序数等于质子数,质量数是质子数与中子数之和。
Electrons occupy shells with fixed capacities: the first shell holds up to 2 electrons, the second up to 8, and the third up to 8 at KS3. Atoms become stable when they achieve a full outer shell, often by losing or gaining electrons to form ions. Metals tend to lose electrons and become positive cations, while non-metals gain electrons and become negative anions.
电子排布在具有固定容量的电子层中:第一层最多容纳2个电子,第二层最多8个,KS3阶段第三层最多8个。当原子通过失去或获得电子达到稳定外层结构时,通常会形成离子。金属倾向于失去电子成为阳离子(正离子),而非金属倾向于得到电子成为阴离子(负离子)。
Na → Na⁺ + e⁻
Sodium loses its single outer electron to obtain the stable electronic structure of neon. Chlorine, with seven outer electrons, gains one electron to form Cl⁻ with a full outer shell.
钠原子失去唯一的外层电子,获得与氖相同的稳定电子结构。氯原子有七个外层电子,获得一个电子形成Cl⁻,外层变为满壳层。
5. Acids, Alkalis and the pH Scale | 酸、碱与pH值
Acids are substances that release hydrogen ions (H⁺) when dissolved in water. Alkalis are soluble bases that release hydroxide ions (OH⁻). The pH scale, ranging from 0 to 14, measures how acidic or alkaline a solution is: values below 7 indicate acidity, 7 is neutral, and values above 7 indicate alkalinity.
酸是溶于水时释放氢离子(H⁺)的物质。碱是可溶的、释放氢氧根离子(OH⁻)的物质。pH值范围从0到14,衡量溶液的酸碱度:低于7为酸性,7为中性,高于7为碱性。
Indicators such as litmus, phenolphthalein, and universal indicator change colour depending on the pH. Universal indicator gives a range of colours—red for strong acids, green for neutral, and purple for strong alkalis. Neutralisation occurs when an acid and an alkali react, producing a salt and water.
石蕊、酚酞和通用指示剂等指示剂会根据pH值改变颜色。通用指示剂呈现一系列颜色——强酸呈红色,中性呈绿色,强碱呈紫色。酸与碱反应生成盐和水,这一反应称为中和反应。
| Solution | 溶液 | Colour with Universal Indicator | 通用指示剂变色 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strong acid (HCl) | 强酸(HCl) | Red | 红色 |
