2. Recognition by UK Universities |
CAIE Philosophy is widely accepted by UK universities, including all Russell Group institutions. Admissions tutors view it as a strong preparation for degrees in philosophy, politics, law, classics, theology, and social sciences. 3.
For most Russell Group philosophy and philosophy-related degrees, a typical offer falls in the range of AAA to A*AA. Some universities specify that the A* should be in a facilitative subject, or mention a preference for an A in Philosophy where taken. International applicants usually need to present three full A-Levels, and CAIE scores of 90% UMS and above align with A* grades.

4. Subject Combinations |
Philosophy pairs well with other essay-based humanities subjects such as English Literature, History, and Religious Studies. For applicants considering PPE or Economics and Philosophy degrees, combining Philosophy with Mathematics and Economics is a highly regarded route. Sciences like Physics or Psychology also complement philosophy’s focus on methodology and the nature of mind.
