Formula: Subject + (ne) + auxiliary (avoir/être) + (pas) + past participle

Past participle formation formula: -er verbs → -é (parlé fini), -re verbs → -u (vendu). Many common verbs have irregular past participles (e.g. eu, été, fait, pris, vu).

Reflexive verbs always use être.
