📚 GCSE OCR Geography: Glossary & Key Terminology Quick-Memorisation Guide | GCSE OCR

Mastering geographical terminology is essential for success in GCSE OCR Geography. This guide provides clear definitions of key terms across the specification, helping you build confidence for exams and fieldwork questions.

1. How This Glossary Is Organised |

OCR GCSE Geography is assessed through three papers: physical geography, people and society, and geographical skills including fieldwork. Terminology appears in all three, so a glossary is only useful when each word is attached to a real place and a real process rather than learned in isolation.

OCR GCSE

Every term below follows the same three-part pattern: the word, a precise definition written in exam-appropriate language, and a hint about where it can be used. This lets you move from simply recognising a word to actually deploying it in a structured answer.

A reliable test of memorisation is whether you can use the term in a full sentence that names a location. If you can only repeat the definition, you are working at the level of recognition, and recognition fades quickly under exam pressure.

Use the numbered sections that follow as a revision checklist. Tick each block only when you can define the terms, give a named example and explain how the term links to a process you have studied.
